Hello.
I don`t know if this is the rigtht place to put this question, put it where it should be in that case,
Take a game in say rm2003 and the limit in stats for a character is 999.
I have wonder about this in years, are the engine still counter but we can`t see it? You know if you equipp something that would give you 1100 for examlpe.
Not the hits, just inte the meny with stats.
It was someone (a serious man) long ago that told me so and i can`t help thinking about it sometimes. I`m playing FFB2 know and that comes to mind.
Stupid question maybe.
EDIT:i mean that if you have 995 in spirit an equip something that gives you 200 more, 999 is what`s is written in stats, but take the enginge notice about it or are the engine acting like the spirit is 1195?

Yeah you can see the "true stat" in the Actor database when setting starting equipment. It's the same if the hero's atk is at 1 but is actually at -50. There are patches to show the actual stat beyond 999 I think though.
In the original rm2k3, stats went up to around 1500 (if I remember correctly). You can test this by setting the atk stat to 999 in the database and then equipping different weapons with different attack powers and using a skill with no randomness against the same enemy and checking damage totals. When the damage totals stop changing is when the maximum value is reached. You can do something similar with defense by letting enemies attack you instead.
This may be different in the English translation.
Also, there's nothing in the engine itself that prevents higher numbers. The engine can handle 9999 for all stats just fine (and even allows it for monsters), so it is simply an artificial restriction.
