VX Ace doesn't have side view built in, so you'll need to specify which scripts you're using for side view.
Have you tried making a sprite sheet with the same layout but just bigger? That works for the map sprites.

With VX Ace, for just about any sprite use, you should just be able to make the spritesheet, and consequently the sprite, bigger. Be careful of that, though because the hitbox stays the same size no matter what. It doesn't matter so much with the battlers, but with walking sprites, this can look strange if the sprite is wider than the standard size.

Yeah, just make a sprite the size you want. VX Ace scales size automatically.
