[RMMV] IN SEARCH FOR A TEAM
Posts
Hello there, I'm here in search for a team to work with on my free project.
It's a funny little game about a protagonist that was thrown of a place called Demon Lord's company by his boss.
Landing into a nearby trash can, he meets a woman there named Mao who convinces him to go back and convince his boss to give him his job back.
After the adventure begins imagination is the limit.
Our party must pass through the many floors of the company.
Defeat enemies, solve puzzles, find keys and companions and overall make it to the top floor.
That's the synopsis.
I'm the writer so there are many things I lack.
I need:
- Pixel artist (Sprites)(Open)
- Pixel artist (Backgrounds) (Open)
- Composer(Closed)
The game is still at the beginning stage.
As for the number of floors, It will be 50.
The floor's theme changes every 5 floors after a boss fight for a total of 10 bosses including the final boss.
The sprites that I will need are based on the current floor's theme. Anything else are character sprites.
I decided to utilise the plugins that already exist so that every boss fight varies in gameplay.
All for comedic purpose of course.
After all, who knows what kind of monsters are running a multimillionaire company:D
If you're interested please comment or contact me at my discord: nero#3104
I'm using RPG Maker MV.
Thank you for your time.

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

So your topic got closed and locked twice for being against the rules, and you've reposted it a third time exactly the same without a single word changed?

It doesn't need a word changed, more over, what was against the rules with it again?
If asking for help is against the rules then it's my fault it seems for not realising that this forum is just for show.
There are actually rules about this, but at this point I think we should perhaps change the rules????? (I personally suggest that all "team requests" now require a game page + blog asking for team members. This does not include requests for very specific things or paid things, just threads like this...)
Edit:
Also, your thread being locked should be a clue.
tbh i don't know why team request threads exist, it's just the same 5 people commenting asking for elaboration when the point eventually boils down to "You're not ready for a team" and if the person was ready to make a team and isn't an ideas person they prob wouldn't be making the thread. It just drives people away who aren't informed enough on how gamedev teams actually form/how to make a compelling proposition/pitch. Which is understandable but I don't think these threads make for very good teaching moments as they come off as REALLY antagonistic.
Please follow the rules!
When requesting for someone's help:
1) Be specific in your request, and give examples where relevant.
If it's a request for a resource, give a brief description of what you're looking for and be patient. Do not bump the thread it incessantly.
2) If you're hiring for a project, you'll need to be very thorough.
Give examples of your previous work, a link to images/information on the game, and tell us why we should care. Remember, you're trying to sell the project to people - they won't help you if they are uninterested. Also specify incentives/payment for helping with the project, if you are willing to give any. I have noticed a problem with these sorts of topics - IF YOU DO NOT CONFORM TO THESE RULES, YOUR TOPIC WILL BE LOCKED.
If you are requesting for someone else to help you make a project:
If you have just joined this site and do not know anyone, chances are that people are not going to respond to requests to make a project with you. Most people here are very busy with their own projects are not going to accommodate a random person they do not know. Your best chance is to network; get to know people, make friends, express interest in other peoples' projects, and provide feedback. Once people know who you are, they are much more likely to respond amiably to your requests, especially if you have done something to help them in the past.
These are the rules for this:
When asking for aid you MUST include at least as much information as someone who is creating a game page.
For those seeking help there must be:
- At least 500 words describing the game - what you're aiming for, game genre, story summary, systems planned, anything that will draw people in out of interest and what plans you have for the game itself. If you can't meet the word limit you don't have enough information to go looking for people to make the game with.
- 3+ screenshots of what you have so far or what you're capable of.
- Precise details about what you're looking for in people - what type of skills (mappers, writers, animators, musicians, etc); the skill level (beginner, advanced, professional); what you're looking to get out of them (a few sprites, 20 maps, an estimate of songs); what, if anything, you're willing to pay/recompense them with (nothing, monetary reward, t-shirts, something from the RMN store); the estimated amount/length of work (a few weeks, a couple of months, a year, until end of development).
- Past pieces of work, if applicable. This can be in the vein of written works, art, story boarding, games (even just flash ones) or anything that can show you have some sort of skill and the level of such.
- What you're willing to give in recompense. Is this a paid job? Is it an offer of some kind of service in return for the work? Do you expect free work?
In the case that a thread doesn't abide by these rules I will ask that it be updated. If after 48 hours it hasn't been, then I will move said topic to the Archives. I will not lock, so that the creator has the chance to edit and once edited, they may contact Liberty via PM and, if it meets the new rules, it will be moved back to the correct area.
In the case of rejection, topic spam will be met with warnings and/or bans, as per the site rules.

Hmm, I was under the impression that the first thread was locked because you weren't listening to people's help. Maybe it was just that it devolved into an argument and wasn't serving its original purpose. I will leave this to others to figure out.
You should listen to people's advice on how to actually get a team though. If your game is free and you aren't paying people, then that involves selling people on your project and making it sound so amazing and awesome and appealing that they can't stand the idea of not working on it.

I'm leaving this one open. Please don't make me question my decision by making another thread or having it be derailed once more.
If you don't update it to fit the rules, then it will be locked until such time as you edit your post to follow them. In that time DO NOT MAKE ANOTHER THREAD.

I don't quite understand the reasoning behind these rules, say there is someone like me who's searching for people willing to partake in his project because they like the idea, and not because of exposition or money.
A person shouldn't be discouraged to make what they believe would be a nice project.
I don't think there's a person out there, who despite having a game page and and a blog asking for members, that there is a person already experienced with the position they have, who will spend his or her time on a free project instead of a paid one.
If you already have experience, might as well gain something with it.
By already having the experience, it's like telling me to do this without gaining anything out of it.
Read the post by Liberty, she is the official moderator in this area.
I was just throwing out ideas to the RMN team.

It's not about trying to discourage people, it's about what people are willing to do. Why would anyone want to make your game instead of their own?

Some people may find the idea fun, or maybe they want to work with something that doesn't have a large scale, after all the only thing someone can gain from a project like this, is experience

I'm asking you to pitch the game to me, not offer a one sentence generic answer.
Almost everyone on this forum is already making their own free game. Many of them are making their fifth or tenth free game. What they're not making is someone else's free game, unless it looks REALLY cool.
So what about your game is REALLY cool?

My reasons to lock the first thread, such as they are, can be found in this post. I was not involved in locking the second thread, and wasn't even aware of it's existence until after I logged back on a few minutes ago, and became aware of this thread.
*Edit: This post was intended as a point of information, and nothing more. Please continue to discuss the topic at hand.

I never said that my game is the bombshell, it's just something I want to do.
If you don't want to work with this project because you don't find it appealing enough, then that's for you.
But that doesn't mean others can't find it appealing.
It took me 1000 years, but here's an "acceptable" post asking for a team:
https://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/20282/
I was so out of hope that I was considering making a fake post to show how it should be done.
Look, they made a post asking for a team. People foresaw disappointing disaster and gavebadvice on how to avoid it. OP chose to argue with them instead of just thanking them for their advice and either ignoring or using it (that's what set me off. The argumentative-ness).
It's over. The post is up. People will respond or they won't. It's not fair to restart the discussion that got the previousbthread derailed and locked.

My lord, triple same posts. You are spamming..
You should listen to other advice you know. Before my game able to publish here I also had a problem with proper English so I asked help from ppl and here I can post my game. This is a community that have rules and we should follow the rules here.
I understand that you might afraid to show your ideas online. But if no one know anything about your project, on one will help you. Especially it's nothing return. People waste their time for you for free without knowing anything. That's not OK.

That's the difference that you don't seem to get.
Unlike the post you liked, the game I intend to make is FREE that means no crowdfunding, only experience.
It's easy to find people if you're willing to pay them, however not all of us decide to pay for our first project.

And sorry to say, but everyone ganging up on you and telling you to not post isn't an advise.
It's downright telling you to not do what you want to do.
Preventing you from trying what you wanted to try.
