RMRECKER GLYPH SPECIFICATIONS

I want to add icons for Fire, Lightning, Slashing, etc, to my Special Symbols using RMRecker, so that they show up when I use, say, $n for example. My question: What are the specification for glyphs in RMRecker, including dimensions/color depth/filetype, and how do I specify what $ code goes to the glyph in question?
RMRecker doesn't make a difference in the specifications, its just a tool for changing them. The basic rm2k/2k3 engines share the same default ExFont.bmp (special symbols) and specifications. It takes the form of 12 by 12 pixel black and white symbols (black background), with thirteen columns and four rows. The $letter code goes in order from left to right.
Here's the unedited ExFont (Only it has to be a bmp, it can't be a png):

That answers my question perfectly. Thanks GOGP.
Question 2
If I should edit these to my liking, does the name HAVE to be ExFont? Or can I name it what I please?

Never used RMrecker, so I'm not sure if it makes any changes, but the actual filename in RPGmaker has to be EXFONT. However, RMrecker probably changes it before inserting. I'd leave it as EXFONT just to be safe... Anyway, why do want it to be different? The filename never appears anywhere...
One thing that is a little counter-intuitive is the actual color-depth of the bitmap should be 256 colors. Whenever I tried to apply a 2-color image to my exe, it would crash immediately when I ran it.
