In any Final Fantasy, or RPG for that matter. Negative status effects are a way or life for better or for worse. With that said, of the options listed below, what do you think is the worst/most annoying?

Keep in mind, the options listed here are from my mind. I understand that some may find others that aren't listed here more annoying and that's ok.
Blind. With other stuff like paralysis and stone, you're stuck in place so you just have to wait out the issue and yes, that's very annoying, but while you can still do things while blind, your actions are much more likely to miss, so you're options end up being limited and that chance of failure is very, very annoying.

Nah. Toad/Frog. Blind is easy to deal with and doesn't totally cripple you. Toad/Frog becomes a thing before you can even get maiden's kisses or white capes, and if you don't have magic to deal with it, your character is just screwed.

I find myself annoyed at any state that removes character control. That obviously includes dead/unconscious, though that state can generally be regulated by healing. I can only roll my eyes at enemies that cast Doom, or any variant thereof (ie: Level 5 Doom) though. Either it's just me, or the affliction rate of Doom is always better for enemies than it is for party-characters? Though, Odin is usually more accurate in it's death application. I really like FF7's Odin switching to physical damage when facing a boss. The summon retains usefulness, where the instant death it would normally apply is irrelevant due to the boss' immunity to that state.

Back to the original statement, I would also include sleep, paralyze/stun, petrify/stone, berserk, and confuse into the mix of "states that remove character control". Confuse is probably the worst offender. It not only removes control from the player, the afflicted character is set to automatically attack other allies!

Confuse and sleep tend to be removed after the afflicted character takes damage (this might include poison damage, I don't remember), and some games do allow for allies to smack each other upside the head for precisely this purpose. Though, it might be possible, in games that allow attaching elemental attributes to weapons and armor (mostly thinking FF 10, here), to heal a character by smacking them this way. Still, removing those kinds of states is annoying as hell.
Idk if I really had a problem with any status effect other than confuse/berserk on a healer in a crucial fight. The final boss in persona 3, charm is able to make you heal them, I'll never forget/forgive that.

Really the question is whether or not you're fighting a Malboro, that's when status effects in FF really rear their ugly head.
Overture / Cloudy Heaven.

As to where I don't think Poison is the pick here, it's is indeed annoying. Not saying you folks, but a lot of people underestimate the power of poison. Of course it depends on the fight itself, but when an already tough boss has poison.... it's terrible.

Especially if your in a party with less then adequate healers.

Once again, poison may be annoying but it's easy to deal with. Antidote is the cheapest available item and the real danger is you not taking poison seriously. What can be annoying is you might not be able to cure it with magic until a few levels in. As for tough bosses, I've always had a tendency to grind in Final Fantasy games to keep me strong enough that bosses aren't too hard. There are charts of what level the bosses are and what level you're recommended to be at.
