[RM2K3] HOW CAN I CHANGE THE FONT WITH RM2K3 ON STEAM?

For clarification, I can change the font, but I don't think I'm doing it properly because no matter what, the font I import has an extra outline and looks really bad.

I've tried a few things (following an old set of instructions by Cherry using Resource Hacker and Hyper Patcher 2, changing the hex code, renaming the font and importing it using Resource Hacker) but none of them have worked. I thought that maybe the fonts I downloaded didn't have the right size for the software so I even tried editing the default font and exporting that to use, but the same thing happened.

Would anybody happen to know what I'm doing wrong? Also, if you do happen to know, could you explain the steps of what to do simply like I'm a child? Thank you.
