MUSIC CREATION PROGRAM

Does anyone know of any good, and free, music creation software? This can be for real-sounding music or MIDIs.

If there are any good ones, but are not free, feel obliged to elaborate.
The demo of Fruity Loops is free, and it does pretty much everything it needs to (as far as I remember). To make real sounding music, you will need some VSTi's or Soundfonts.

Brandon Abley would probably be your "go-to-guy" for more info.
Free(Midi):
Anvil Studio

Not Free:
(Mac) Garageband
(PC) Fruity Loops

(Garageband and Fruity loops are good for midi AND real-sounding music

The demo of FL didn't allow you to save files, as far as I remember :I

It lets you output to MP3s, but you can't save them as files to use with FL.

Oh I see, the trial is pretty limited.
Module trackers (software to create .IT, .S3M, .XM, .MOD) are free, fully-featured software programs to create music how you want it to sound. It comes with a steeper learning curve as it's very different than midi-based sequencers out there (like the ones previously mentioned). However, anything's possible with the right motivation. I'd be willing to help too, if you wanted. I'm pretty sure I see you on IRC now and again.

If need to edit any I would strongly reccommend Audacity. Also free.

I'm actually looking for one that's fairly simple to learn, but still at least moderately good.
