(RPG Maker XP)
First, which is my biggest problem at the moment, is Event Resetting. I may have rigged my events wrong, but heres what I do. I set the 'starter' event where I want your character to see it. When you talk to it, say you get a quest. To make the NPC say something else and not give the quest all over again, I just have it switch places with an identical Event. These 'switcher' Events are usually on an island somewhere where they can't escape or be seen by the player. So thats how the game progresses, by Events either erasing or trading places with another one. So thats how my game is currently set up. But there is one problem. Say you do an entire set of quests, or you may be in the middle of one, and you decide to go inside a shop or something, which of course teleports you to a different map. Thats all fine and dandy, you buy your crap and then go on your merry way. But once you get back outside, all of the Events have reset and you're back at square one. How do I keep this from happening? I would love to make the game sort of an open world sandbox style. But I can't do this if every time the hero leaves a map and comes back everything is the way it was the very first time you saw it!
??? :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
Second, is a Title Screen. I don't really need to change the actual part that says like New Game, Continue, or Exit, I want like a cinematic intro. Something that has a little scene and the title of my game with a cool font and animation. But first things first. I need help with the above problem before this.

I could have read this wrong so forgive me if i have, the problem you have may be solved if that after you've spoken to the person and get a quest, you'll need to add another switch to the programming which you can call anything you want, this will tell rpg maker not to reset everything, and with that switch you can also get the npc to say that you've already accepted the quest or whatever.
so basically all you should need is another switch to say that they've accepted the mission and nothing should reset back to standard so long as all the things you dont want resetting know about that switch being activated.

Haha, Your obviously new to RPG Maker, It's OK, we all gotta start somewhere.
1. You are over complicating things! Switching an event with another to have it do something else is crazy. It might seem smart at first, but there is a better way.
Assuming you are using RPG Maker 2003:

^Here's Chrono right, you talk to him, he says "Hi" Right?
If you talk to him again, what's he going to say again? "Hi" yeah?
To make and event do something different you must turn on a "Switch":

You can name the switch whatever you like:

Then when you click "OK", the switch will turn on after the event takes place:

Make another page by clicking "New page" and then click the "Switch" checkbox and locate the switch you just made:

Wa-la! Next time you talk to Chrono, he will say "What?"
