[FUN] WORLDBUILDING 2: ENCYCATLAS OF THE BIG BLUE (AKA JUVEX SECTOR 76A2)

Pages: 1
I thought we'd give this another whirl. The idea of the Ecycatlas is to build the history, geography, and culture of a choerent storyworld. The theme of this one is DEEP SPACE PIRATES!

THE RULES:
1. Select a italicized term from a previous article.

2. Write an article for it. Try and include other terms and keep in mind what has been said already, so we don't have contradictions or incoherencies.

3. Include at least one new italicized term for someone else to write an article about.

4. Keep in ming this is WORLD BUILDING. If you decide to write an article, remember we are building a world, places, cultures, economies, creatures, peoples first and not theogonies or ephemerals.

5. As the OP, I'd like to reserve the say to exclude, retcon, or request rewrites of topics or terms. If they don't follow the rules, conflict with another article, or we have multiple submissions, in an effort to keep things contigous.

I will let someone else have a crack at the first article. Planets, pirates, political forces, types of hypermount cannons, alien races, sorts of hats, its up to you.

... k go.
It's a try. It's losely based on an ancient concept planet I made once.

Chaos
Chaos is a planet located in the outer rim of the galaxy, orbiting the dying sun C12-Cerberus. The planet is a centre for anarchy and pirates, evil scientists, general villains, bounty hunters and all manner of scum often visit the place. The planet is under constant warfare from different warbands and tribes and locations and hubs on the planet are often under different leadership between visits.
The planet has only known peace once, during the Fifteen minute peace when all fighting stopped for, you guessed it, fifteen minutes. The constant warfare has taken a toll on Chaos, actually breaking the planet apart and the planet is split in two.

Despite all this weird stuff the planet is habitable by most of the races in the galaxy and even if there's constans war and fighting it's also one of few hubs where all manner of races gather.

Attempts have been made to pacify Chaos, including trying to "blow up the planet once and for all" and "finish what the planet itself clearly started ages ago". These quotes are from Warlord Djenghi Khunundrum, the famous pirate-turned-warlord-turned-emperor who, it is said, was insulted by a bartender from the Nekkid Chikks bar on Chaos early in his career of counquest.

Chaos has no central government and anyone claiming to be government tends to get scorned and/or shot down on sight. However Chaos is the central hub for many organizations, including the Brotherhood of Brothels, Uthan's Warriors, I-didnaedoit-honest and the League of All Planets Demanding Allocation of Natural Consumable Energies (L.A.P.D.A.N.C.E). Ironically the Cult of Peace also has a huge group on Chaos since "It's the perfect place to preach" (quote from Low Priest Jonathon Middleleg).

Chaos itself consists of little more than rocks and occasional water sources. The natural flora consists of gnarly trees and cactae. Especially the Booze pinhead, which is one of the most widely sought-after cactus in the galaxy. The fauna of the planet consists of mostly small animals. The Three-eyed nastyteeth is the planet's largest predator and is about the size of an Earth fox.

Tourists visiting Chaos are advised to back up their personalities in clones before visiting, since fatalities are fairly common. The travel agency eXXXtreem traVeSTy TravelS has a popular package for people wanting to try new experiences on Chaos.
Outer Rim

The outer limits of Juvex Sector 76A2, more often called Big Blue. Most planets found in the Outer Rim are generally ridden with chimera, space pirates and other life forms capable of adapting very, very quickly. Outsiders attribute this to physicist Allo Nym's incredibly controversial Inverse-Proportional Law of Relative Spatial Morality. In contrast, most inhabitants of the Outer Rim attribute the Rim's stranger denizens to the weak lawful presence in the area and to hallucinations inflicted through the consumption of vast quantities of rum.

Beyond the Outer Rim is deep space, which was significantly more impressive when every twelve-year-old cabin-boy and his grandmother didn't own their own Sunfish. (slight exaggeration)

The Fifteen Minute Peace
On Space Date 5400682.0042, the planet Chaos stopped its normal and continuous descent into anarchy with an anomalous peace for fifteen minutes. Preceeding and following the peace, hostilities resumed as normal.

Some historians say that the 15 Minutes were brought on by fear of threats made by the warlord Djenghi Khunundrum, broadcast planetwide, to utilize his new power of Atomaryb Fusion Missiles and destroy the world if he didn't get some peace and quiet for fifteen minutes while he tried to finish a jigsaw puzzle. Others say that it was due to a spontaneous epidemic of Contageous Bahi-Bahi Dance Syndrome which coincidentally struck the planet's entire population at exactly the same moment. The two events are otherwise unrelated.
Atomaryb Fusion Missiles

A very devastating weapon, albeit rather expensive. The fact that one missile can destroy a whole class 22 planet, combined with the rather difficult manufacturing process and need for pure Rilembite Ore, which the only known source of in the galaxy is the Flurbinjurg Nebula in Juvex Sector 54, has led the weapon both being banned by the United Council of Civilized Planets, and shunned by most of the less lawful denizens of the galaxy. Though only one milligram of the substance is required to create five missiles, expensive specialized equipment that can take up half the space of a class b ship is necessary to contain that milligram of ore. The last known Atomaryb Fusion Missiles are in the possession of warlord Djenghi Khunundrum of the planet Chaos; it is rumored that he had hired the Teremin Mercenaries to gather the actual materials, and that he had secretly built an underground manufacturing facility for the actual production of the missiles.

Juvex Sector 54

Otherwise known as a trash sector the sector was long so abandoned to the Vector Ace bandits and long taken over by them. This is home to the Relembite Ore which fuels the weapon known as the Atomaryb Fusion Missiles. The sector is home to many backwood planets, many are destroyed planets from the Velox War which took place in the nearby sector of the Astral Star Sea. The habitable planets are not much known except for the industrialized planet known as Laxyion which has been ruled by the Renlo Corporation. However the bad being of the sector has been blamed on them. They have however claimed to initiating a clean up. No one knows if these statement are true or not.

It has been stated by physicist Allo Nym that Juvex Sector 54 like many trash sectors would be destroyed and wiped out in a phenomena known as the Eternal Fire, although this theory has been rejected by many with no good evidence to back it up.
Laxyion

A very industrialized planet located in Juvex Sector 54. Laxyion is home to more than 70% industries all around the galaxy, including Crinox Cola and the Enertopia Fusion Weapon Industry. It is said that Laxyion is forming a black cloud which many scientists say that it might leave Juvex Sector 54 and enter the Plesent Orbit which means a fatal threat to many lives.
Booze Pinhead Opuntia alkul

A cactus native to the planet of Chaos. Unlike many of the cacti that store water in their fleshy insides, the Booze Pinhead produces and stores its own alcohol. The spines on the Booze Pinhead are actually more like needles, injecting those who try to harm the plant with a small dose of its alcohol. The plant is now quite rare due to the overcrowding of Chaos, and attempts to farm the plant have failed. Aluk Werbs can often be seen drinking from the Booze Pinhead.
This needs more pirates. In fact it needs more zombie space pirates.
Goddammit none of the italicized terms offer possibilities for zombie space pirates.

United Council of Civilized Planets
The UCCP is an elitist group of planets and governments that feel that they are better than everyone else in the universe and never pass up on a chance to tell everyone else so. UCCP was originally founded in the early dark age as "a beacon of light amidst the barbarism", by businessman and war profiteer Samuel Knudsen.

In the UCCP every member planet has its own representative with its own vote. This lead to a scandal when the Hurrengtott Empire decided to get some extra power in the council by having a dozen governers from planets that couldn't sustain life, the peak of the scandal was upon the discovery that one of the planets didn't exist at all!

The Hurrengtotts were promptly kicked out of the UCCP for "uncivilized behaviour". Angry at this development Hurrengtott leader J'klovis founded another union under the banner United Council of Uncivilized Planets (UC2P)

Over the last decades UCCP membership have steadily declined. The pacifist nature of the UCCP and its inability to agree on anything have made member planets prime targets for less scrupulous raiders and empires. So some members have dropped out because they ceased to exist and other members have dropped out because they wanted to arm themselves with forbidden weaponry to repel attackers.

Today the UCCP is little more than a beaurocratic union of planets that pass laws and regulations that the members are supposed to follow. The group has become very insular and have very little trade with outsiders due to high taxations. The member planets feel they are superior to everyone else, claiming that the barbarians hammering on their gates are indeed barbaric and not deserving of any proper attention.

The UCCP headquarters is on Olydna which is in the center of the Knudsen System and is one of the most well-protected planets in the galaxy. The planetary and system defense systems will kill off anyone without proper authorization and the visa-process can sometimes take up to six months for anyone wanting to visit. Olydna was the home planet of Samuel Knudsen and a lot of his wealth is said to be tied up in the planet, making the planet one of the most valuable, as well as one of the best defended.

So far no pirate has managed to get to the wealth in the Knudsen System though Necromancer-Pirate Momagoroth the Undying sent in a fleet of ships to conquer the system but was stopped before he could reach the planet. A memorial of the brave defense can be found on Olydna's Moon Otukt.
