Well. I don't know how Windows Vista works, but I figure you just install it and then go to the exe file?
I've heard of some minor problems running RMXP on Vista, but don't know the specifics.

There is an update for RMXP to run in Vista here without any issues.

It will also largely depend on your version of XP.
I can run XP without any problems, on this Vista computer, or with out that patch above.
However, RMXP for me is a problem on its own....
Regardless, after you've installed it and the RTP, you should just find whatever short cut you can, via your desktop or the start menu, and click it. It should open. If it there's an error message when you do that, maybe post it, so we might recognize it and see the problem.
And if clicking such a shortcut does nothing, double check the target directory to make sure the exe is in place. Just run it from there while you're at it. And if your computer isn't retarded (then again, it's Vista...) it should just start right up.
Pretty simple. How did I write that much?
