Hey everyone, I've reached the state where I need a swarm of people to test the menu in order to iron out bugs resulting from insane combinations of things, which I could never hope to find by myself. Also looking for inconsistencies with the real FF7 menu, such as sound effects being in the wrong place, absent features, etc. The only thing that comes to mind that really differs is the config menu for obvious reasons.

Also yes, its packed with molebox. Currently there's no point to anyone looking through the code. For those interested the menu took 2478 pictures in total to produce.

Controls:

F4 Full Screen/Window Mode Toggle
F5 Large/Small Window Toggle
F12 Return to Title Screen
Cancel on Title Screen quits the game
Z, X, Shift, 1, 2, 3 are the only keys used in the menu. You should be able to figure out what kind of functions they're bound to and hopefully it will become intuitive after a bit.

Bugs Found Already:

-Item Menu: Can't sort by quantity
-Config Menu: MP3 support NYI
-PHS Menu: Can have an empty party, this is done on purpose (for now)
-No autoscroll aside from config menu. This is intentional, the menu does too much on-the-fly calculations to make autoscroll viable. However you can quick scroll with left/right arrows and 1/2 on all menus. I doubt you'll notice the lack of autoscrolling after a while.
-HP<->MP materia not fully functional. HP and MP is swapped, but MP still only shows 3 digits instead of 4.

New version up, fixed a few errors like Yuffie's avatar was not properly aligned in the status menu and it seems I spelt developed wrong haha... Fortunately since it was using my custom text system I only had to delete one character in the code. :>

There was obviously a lot of effort put into this but I really have to ask: why? I can't see an RM remake of FF7 being a good idea. At least you could put those skills to use in an original custom menu if you were willing.

Let the guy do what he wants instead of causing another "WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS" debate like in many other remake topics I've seen.

Anyway, it looks cool. Lack of autoscroll is REALLY annoying though. Hurts my fingers when I'm using my keyboard (which I usually don't). Can't wait to see the actual non menu gameplay in action. Will you be using pre-rendered backgrounds?

Good to see you posting here :)

I'm actually pretty interested in replaying FF7 in 2D, moreso than 3D, so there's a reason for building it there. Also pretty interested to see how you'll handle the exploration and battle system.

This looks incredibly accurate. I do have to say that I'm interested in seeing the meat of the game itself.

Man. Was i so happy i found this again. I thought persons would be more positive this tie, and i was SO ECXITED!!! Then, i scrolled down and read THIS?!?!?!
That´s MEAN. Let him be, he is so awesome! I mean, why to brat him with those things? Ugh...

Normally i´d solve this myself, but you MoleBoxed it...

But it looks great! Now if only we were to get some good battle shots, then that'd be all the better. But that is probably going to take WHILE to do. Just a while, though.

Are you sure? I just checked the tree for the molebox package and it seems to be there. And you're wrong, you can still substitute files by putting them in the appropriate subfolders outside the molebox'd exe. So in this case you could make a System folder and put any old rm2k3 system file in there called system5.png and that woud solve your error.

EDIT: As for impressions, it's a pretty faithful replication. Why don't you put this effort into something more influential? This will always be pegged as something that is not your own.
The only thing i noticed(besides the lag, wich i don´t care, the awesomeness more than pays for it.)
Is that the character don´t say "It´s not mine", etc. when we use wrong limit items on them. also... There s a version of RPG maker2k3 (patch), called "goliath", it allows up to ONE HUNDRED pictures, and also, it permits MP3. So well we can hear it from the EDITOR LIST!!!
I have nothing to say besides "AWESOME". I´m not a fan of FFVII(though i liked it)

I forgot to mention that the final limit break items are NYI. I've observed *most* of their phrases, but in order to have it completely accurate I need a PSX save that has every char with all but their L4 limit so I can record what they say when you try to teach them the wrong limit and when you teach them the right limit.

Also I'm using Cherry's Hyper Patcher2 which lets me use 126 pictures at the moment. And by MP3 support being NYI I meant that I hadn't put in the code that would either play a Midi or MP3 depending on what mode you'd set. I didn't mean that it couldn't play MP3's.

It's an incredibly well done menu that's for sure. But I would still rather wait to see what the actual 2D remake will look like.
I love it, however like most here I would like to see some 2D shots as well as your plan for the Battle System.
