aaaahhhh GRS get in here immediately
I told you it wouldn't take long (also I was gone for most of the day, sorry for the huge delay

Well, I just started mine (been pretty lazy so far), and it's coming along quite well. It will be submitted very close to the deadline.
My puzzle is sort of a logic game, by the way.

PM TROUBLE HUH no we are not doing this again
bad news! I am probably not gonna get finished by the deadline so idk if I am gonna enter. in retrospect I should not have left it until the last few days before the deadline buuuut college work blows like that. there is still gonna be loads of entries though so I am not too beat-up about it. :)

Man. I have absolutely no idea how to make something without a database.
Somebody give me an idea so that I don't just make some giant boring maze!

Make a resource management game!
Make the player have to collect so many of A, B, C, D resource by placing certain units on certain locations, within a given time limit.
Like, placing a Merchant in a treasure room would generate X gold in a production cycle, while placing a farmer in a garden would generate food, and lumberjacks in forests, etc..etc.. with the catch being that you can't have more units than food, and new units cost gold and lumber and cloth and etc..etc..

have my idea. don't look if you're not Craze!
you're in a long corridor with statues positioned along the walls. if you walk into the line of sight of the statues, they will blast you all the way back to the beginning of the corridor. you must move blocks in front of the statues so that they can't see you.
however, there is a catch or two. firstly, the corridor is somewhat dilapidated and there is debris that neither you nor the blocks can pass. at any point you could walk in front of a statue and POW the room resets and you're back to square one.
secondly, it is not just the ceiling which has caved in. some areas of the floor are somewhat eroded and could give way at any time, dropping you into a mezzanine full of toxic horrible gunk. by the time you've made your way back up the corridor it has reset, of course.

Knee Oak: Cool idea, but manipulating a billion "is event A's x and y in the right place to block blah blah blah" is much less up my alley than kentona's idea.
Save it for next time! I'd love to play it.

yeah actually I think I will make that next time one of these things comes round. it wouldn't take that many events anyway as long as you always track the hero's x and y, it's just a case of comparing the x and y values of the hero, the statue's line of sight and the block.
Question: Is it okay if I allow the player to save? I figure that if I don't screw this tycoon game up people will want to play it more than once.

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY FOR SUBMISSIONS!
(Of course, I usually don't check on weekends, and this Monday is a holiday, so for all intents and purposes, you have until Tuesday next week...but don't let the slackers know that)

...haha, I was just going to come in and say HI THIS REALLY IS GETTING DONE TONIGHT. I guess it doesn't matter, but I'm on a roll anyway so I'll finish it in a few hours.
I really am making the economy sim. It's not exactly as you planned, kentona, but it is very similar (managing "character tokens," gold and food). It's pretty much just c+p from here on so no worries about me dropping out.
