I really, really dislike anime. I haven't seen a single anime series that would have kicked proper buttocks., of coures I haven't seen a whole lot either but whenever I see some it just seems so... Japanese...

But:
1. Miyazaki stuff

(It's like Neil Gaiman said, he doesn't really like anime, it never did anything to him but he does like Miyazaki films.)
Yeah, Miyazaki is great. All I've seen of his stuff was Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro (when I was little), but Spirited Away is probably the best animated movie I've seen, ever. So if the rest of his stuff is even better, than I really have to see more Miyazaki, I guess.

Oh, and Spirited Away is hereby added to my list.

oh man, i didnt liked that movie, not that im saying it was bad... its just out of my taste in anime.
I didn't mind Spirited away. It had it's moment and was good.

yeah it had its sentimental moments... you know what movie really touched me? windaria... also i like animes mostly cause of how they draw them, drawings like DBZ, zenki, battle angel alita, slayers, yuyu hakusho, vampire hunter D, macross... usually the old stuff. I cant stand latest and somewhat late stuff like naruto... its just those drawings, i dont like them... one exception was witch hunter robin though, great awesome anime... in my opinion anime was good in the 80's-90's after it, or the very end of it... ack, i dont even wanna bother.
Dragonball Z really was the one that started Anime. It was every kid's favourite show.

Not really. That show was retarded when I was in 9th grade and remains retarded. I've never seen the appeal.
It helps when the first episode of DBZ you ever watched was the one where Goku and Vegeta fight on Earth for the first time. Goku uses KOKannon (or whatever) LVL 4 and a kamehameha to blow Vegeta away. I'm also sure that it causes seizures to anyone who watches that scene.

Quit jumping on the anti-bandwagon bandwagon WIP!

Actually i havent, im gonna check it on veohtv later on tonight. And dragon ball z was really good, something i didnt like about it was some of the lenght of the battles, such as about 8 episodes beating up one guy lol.
What i used to hate in good anime was when the hero of the story would fight a bad guy and the match would go for about 5 or 6 episodes and on the last episode the hero would lose. I hated this. It felt like watching the episode was a waste of time.

IN TODAY'S SHOW, TITLED:
"People talk mainstream animes as if they were the greatest animes!"
OR
"There's more animes than the ones on Fox?"

Really, there's an UNBELIEVEABLE amount of anime out there. It truly is inconcievable just how many have been produced, and a lot of them are very good - but in different ways. Sure, all the animes mentioned are pretty awesome in their own ways, but how do you classify animes like Azumanga Daioh? There's no actual point, climax, magic, fighting, etc. but arguably it is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. FLCL is awesome, but there are so many jokes we miss out on, even with the wonderful localization team. Not to mention it's budget was the same for a 26 episode anime, so it's unlikely many animes will be able to follow in its artistic footsteps. Excel saga, while great and hilarious, can be seriously hard to follow sometimes, and there are SO many Japanese jokes that it can be frustrating unless you're watching it from a dedicated Fansubber who explains all the shit - and Sumiyoshi being there only makes things harder!

anyway, end of rant, out of all the animes I've seen, this would be my list. And it annoys me because i always have the impression I'm missing something important...

10.Samurai Pizza Cats (American Version) - why? just friggin because, dammit.
9.DBZ - because, really, this is where most people started.
8.Hellsing - Alucard, the most overpowered character in an anime ever.
7.Neon Genesis Evangelion + Death and Rebirth + End of Evangelion = interesting tale with flawed characters!
6.Azumanga Daioh - cute anime, or cutest anime?
5.Scrapped Princess - serious goddamn fantasy + anime = answer to my prayers
4.Cowboy Bebop = fun loving, depressing, space action, gun fights - you want more?
3.FLCL - hilarious, ATRSY, layered meanings, wacky, and EPIC musical track
2.Trigun - (why in the 9 hells wasn't THIS in someone's list!?) -
1.Slayers (all three seasons, oh god please make another...)

I wish it could be a longer list, but there's still so many series' i have to watch: Lain, Noir, Berserk, Bastard!, + uncountable others...

the thing is, I've watched dozens of animes, and many of them have be plopping back on the couch to watch for their own intricacies, but they're not THE GREATEST. 2x2=Shinoboden, Abenobashi (great at first, drags on), Haruhi (tries to be confusing in a good way, fails), Excel saga, Galaxy Angel, Gundam Wing/Destiny, Last Exile, Lost Universe, on and on and on...

PostScript: we should have a simmilar topic, but for Anime Movies as well? maybe i'll strat one, later...

The use of fictional abilities for which the effects and power levels are arbitrarily determined by the author are completely rad.

Anyway, I remember liking this Miyazaki show called Totoro as a kid. I can't really think of anthing else. I've seen some of Gundam Wing. At first it looked like it would be a cool political drama, but 80% of it is just boring fight scenes and contrived character development. : <

I don't neccesarily have a top ten, but I do have a lot of manga-that's-been-translated-into-anime title (seeing as I play videogames too much to watch TV anyway):

I currently read
Naruto*
FullMetal Alchemist*
Queen's Knight
D.N. Angel*
From Far Away* (not an anime)
Tsubasa*
xxxHOLiC* (no, it's not about that)
One Piece
.hack* (already read all 3 volumes, but it's a cool series)
Legendz
Bleach*

*indicates favorite title

However, my three favorite anime movies (that I've actually watched) are:
Naasica: Of the Valley of the Wind
Howl's Moving Castle
Spirited Away

I've also watched one episode of Orphen II and have volume three of Orphen 1.
Ocean
Resident foodmonster
11991
1. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (As if it weren't obvious already)
2. Azumanga Daioh
3. Princess Mononoke
4. 2x2 Shinobuden
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

I've yet to see Spirited Away and some of the others that I wanted to check out, so I only have 4 for now. I've seen more than this, but I'm not going to list them if I don't like them as much.
1. Unico in the Island of magic
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

What's Unico in the Island of Magic? Do I really want to know?
