GOOGLE PHONE - ANY GOOD?

So my cellphone (Moto Razr) is dying frequently (as in randomly turning off, sometimes mid-conversation), and my warranty expired some time ago - time to get a new phone.

The htc phone with Google Android comes out tomorrow and I am considering picking one up. But before I do, I thought I'd ask here about it, to see its worth the extra cash.

Has anyone used/owned one? What's it like? Is it worth it? Better than the iPhone? Pros/Cons over a basic phone?

Just get an IPhone if you can man, already eastablished a good reputation and all. Plus touching is good as Nintendo always say.

I hear lots of good things about the Android based phones. I have a friend who is a bit of an Android enthusiast and he was pretty sickened with me when I bought a BlackBerry over the Android option.

However, despite being created by Google, the Android app marketplace is terrible and not even truly searchable. Oh, the irony.

I despise the iPhone (and Apple in general), though I think the sheer amount of apps make it more useful than it would be otherwise.
I don't know anything about the Google phone other than that it did not make the splash I had thought it would. I really like the idea of an open phone platform, but it's a bummer that it hasn't caught on.

I am pretty sure Android based phones will outsell the iphone eventually, if only because it will be more available than the iphone -- dozens of carriers, dozens of phones. It's actually been quite successful in most of the markets it has been released in. It's not really comparing apples to apples though, I guess.

That said, everyone talks about the iphone like it is THE BEST THING EVER yet all versions of the iphone were still outsold by a single BlackBerry model -- the Curve -- in the first quarter this year. My favorite response to this was various iphone sites saying "so what?" and showing a graph where the iphone represents a majority of all smartphone traffic... but only if you lump the iphone (and the ipod touch) models together and segment all the BlackBerry phones by model...

Android is catching on now. Samsung's upcoming Android phone was revealed a few weeks ago and looks pretty awesome (I might get it).

Numerous companies have stated they have Android phones coming up. You can bet your ass they'll be smoking the iPhone.
