ARE YOU LESS LIKELY TO PLAY A DEMO THAN A COMPLETED GAME?

I was thinking of releasing a game demo at about 40% completion (full game will probably be about 8-10 hours of game time). Does the fact that it's a demo turn some people off to the idea of playing it? Because feedback would be awesome.
Well no I wouldn't think so. People ususally play demos to see if they'd like the full game don't they?
I don't mind demos as long as they have a considerable amount of content-- i.e., at least 2-3 hours of gameplay. And I'm generally the impatient type so if your advertising is good, chances are I'll download the demo instead of waiting for the full thing.
Well most people post a demo to get feedback. IMO Getting friends to beta test it (not to mention WATCH them beta test it without telling them what to do) is a better way to get feedback. This is faster than say uploading on RMN, making sure the downloads are fine, getting people to review/comment on it, etc. I feel releasing a demo can slow things down.

I am more willing to play a finished game than a demo, if I were given the choice between the two.
I agree with Darken. Especially since you are already 40% done, nobody wants to play half of a game and then be left hanging right when the story begins to develop.

No, the only issue here is my complete lack of time. In fact, although this is not my default mode, I may be MORE likely to play a demo right now. Less of a time commitment.
I am much more likely to play a finished game than a demo.
If it's a heavily story based game, I won't even touch the demo. I hate getting caught up in the storyline only to find out I'll never see the end. Ara Fell and Wilfred the Hero ruined demos for me forever.
Don't forget ABL. Who the fuck wasn't immensely dissapointed when they realized that Line's End was another Duke Nukem Forever?
Someone/this community should make Line's End.
I prefer playing completed games. Some demos seem really promising, but they almost never get finished.

Quality, not quantity.

Finished games don't need to be long.
It seems like about half of you would consider playing it, and the feedback from other developers would be great, so as soon as I get the title graphic finished I'll post the demo either today or tomorrow. Watch for "The Tiamat Sacrament."
Some people love playing demos - especially in game developement communities like this - because thye love the creation process. By playing your demo, they do get involved in the creation process, and, overall, you may get more responses than by just dropping a full game and saying "here's a full game, play it, kthxbai!"

I say release the demo.
I actually am less likely to play an RM game at all as of late.

I know we have lots of games made in other engines, but still...why are you here??

I have been considering this for years now but I definitely need to clear about four or five projects off of my backlog first.
