WHICH VERSION?

I used to use this a few years back using Miguel's 2k(2k3?)

I was just wondering... What versions of RPG maker do you all use?
Currently, I'm using RPG Maker 2003. Fun to use, as long as you know what you're doing.

Having a signature is too mainstream. I'm not part of your system!

2k3, its easier to use but its lacking in the graphics department. It also has my preferred battle system.

I use RPG Maker VX right now and it also is the version with my endorsement/recommendation, for what that's worth.

What keeps me away from VX is the limited number of chipsets. Why anyone thought this would be a good idea is beyond my comprehension.

It's like they want you to NOT make your own graphics and stick to the squarish RTP instead.
I use VX, but only because Its superior to XP in most regards except the chipset issue, and the fact that i actually bothered to buy it (though slightly regretting it.)

The VX RTP is pretty much the worst unless you want all your games to look like chibi anime kawaii ^o^ /
I've worked minor in 95 and 2K years ago, but I've mostly completed games using XP and one in VX. I also use GameMaker 7.

I use XP/VX/GM because I like to make each new project a new genre and do systems as original as I can each time.
I use RMVX for the moment; mostly because I can't stand the XP RTP-style characters.

here here! I hate those chinless wonders. I even prefer the VX charsets over them (if you can imagine!)
I was making a custom battle system in VX when my database killed itself. I may go back to VX, but I've been trying to broaden my horizons and check out some other engines. I've been screwing around in MMF2 recently and I think I'll try out Game Maker as well. I'll probably go with one of the two since I'd like to be able to make platformers as well, but I might end up actually making an RPG in VX.
XP is hands down the best balance for me. I do all custom graphics, and XP supports whatever chipset and charset sizes i want, at a fairly decent resolution. As someone who does their own graphics, I could not EVER use VX. I used RM2003 for a long time, but the small tilesize and limited chipset size gets frustrating when you wanna do large and higher resolution stuff.

I use pretty much all three. Each maker tends to have something that distinguishes itself from the other, despite how makers like xp are supposed to be "upgraded" from the previous. When I want to make a game with a more low-res "classical" feel, I would turn to RM2k3. If I want high resolution, built-in vehicle systems, a few more options with the database editor and better script compatibility, I would go with RMVX. Anything else I would go with XP.

I tend to use RPG Maker XP the most out of them all, however.
2k/3 is the easiest to work with but at the same time has the most limitations.
Also, it has the most resources.
I personally use 2k3, but i'm moving on to XP after i finish my game.
I used to swear by 2K until I 'upgraded' to 2K3. That was about a 6-8 months ago. I tried XP but didn't like it, and used VX for a (very small) while. It's okay and if I did have to shift to a new system it'd be that (unless the next one is better). I still like 2K a lot, mainly because you don't have to fiddle around with those blasted battle animations. Still, 2K3 FTW.
Thanks for all of your input! You're all very helpful!

QFT. I tried XP and VX just the same, but it just didn't feel right. My ideal maker would be an RM2k3 with a scripting option.
