SCIRRA CONSTRUCT

Hey everyone, for awhile now I've been learning Python for Scirra's Construct engine and so far I've seen a new release of 0.99.42"something like that." I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the program and could lend me a few pointers, from what I've heard it's superior to Game Maker just by it's features alone and obviously it's easy to use Physics engine.

I'm not going to do 3D, but maybe 2.5D...just for a world map.
If you spend all your time trying to find the 'best engine', you'll never, ever make a game buddy.
From what I checked out from construct, it has a very strong potential to be really good. :)
It's like Game Maker +MMF+ Rpgmaker in a way so...

I settled on an engine and it took me years to release anything semi-decent: Karsu is right, basically.

MORE DETAIL: You need to learn the ins-and-outs of a program before you can really make anything meaningful, so if you are switching from system to system then you are never going to have enough experience to truly do what you want.

I know the ins and outs of Game Maker, besides RPG Maker and semi RGSS I've also learned Game Maker.

The only thing I hate is that the level editor wasn't done properly, seems more like ms paint than a map editor.

I've replicated most Engines in Game Maker like zelda and seiken densetsu 3, I've even created a mario clone in 20 minutes. Though, I just wanted to go into something better that used a real language and works with my computer, ika would be great but it's old python frame work doesn't work well with my machine. However when I write new code it runs perfectly, just can't use any old scripts which sucks...

I'd love to use ika and it's new ikead and possible new map editor but I've yet to see any updates.
I really like this program. Once deadeye updates Platform School for version 0.99, I'm going to try making a short platformer to test it out.
I am trying it out as well, I pretty much understand the basics of it so far. Right now I'm making a small LoZ clone.
A Zeld clone? Nice, animations are kinda hard to link together for movement.
Construct looks pretty neat, and it's nice to see the developers addressing peoples' problems. Game Maker and MMF have hardly changed in years, especially Game Maker changing so little between versions. Construct looks like it combines aspects of GM and MM, and if its Python capabilities are ever "fixed" I'd consider it myself.

I mentioned this in a topic and everyone ignored it.
Actually, I googled it and checked it out and downloaded a few demos.

I am bumping this to say I am going to try this out. I don't know how accessible the program is to people who would only use the point and click interface, but I would definitely plan on utilizing the python scripting to get anything done.

Though this software lacks the extensive documentation you can find for programs like Game Maker or Multimedia Fusion, the wiki actually provides a lot of useful information.
