A new trailer for the game was released today. It is absolutely breathtaking.

Yes there are some spoilers, but nothing new if you've never played the original.

Honestly, I'd rather just have a FFIV movie done with those kickass 3D models. I've already played the game.
"but I have an idea for square... try making more original content for the handhelds"
QFT.

I want it. Now.
Just everything about it was so awesome. They had the biggest spoiler of the game at the end, though. Luckily, only people who 1) already know it or 2) can understand moonspeak would know what's going on with the spoiler. Edward's voice is annoying, however. And I'm going to cry so hard at the Palom/Porom scene in Baron, especially since it's voiced and 3D now.

FF4 is among the top games in RPG history, in my opinion. The storyline is deep, interesting, and filled with emotional dialogue and content. The gameplay is top notch, battles are very balanced, and the dungeons are great.
This game looks to be of no detriment to that which is the original FF4. Does anyone know if it has any Stylus interaction, or a stupid Mognet thing like FF3DS?

I think it has some stylus controls, but no stupid Mognet.
I sure hope they tone down the random battles. I can't remember what it was like playing the SNES version when it came out, but the GBA version literally had battles every 2 - 4 steps. It's cool seeing those scenes in 3D though.
The great thing about characters who don't have voice acting or too too many lines is that you can sort of give them the personalities you want to give them.
I'm going to pick up Dragon Quest IV instead.

OH MY GOD.
Words cannot express the feeling of awe.
*in shock* This is probably the far and away top game in my life in terms of nostalgia. In its era, it was only bested by its own sequel. And maybe not even then.
Golbez looks amazing!

author=Ciel link=topic=438.msg5821#msg5821 date=1196918936I agree. I don't really have a problem playing through FF4 anymore, but it does get moderately frustrating.

All these remakes are awesome, in a way, but damn - can't Square make some new RPGs??
They've obviously invested a lot of time and money into building an engine for FF games on the DS - I think they should capitalize on that.

Is there a release date for this yet? I know that it won't take long to make because it's a DS title.

It's out in Japan on 12/20
There is no US release date yet.
I'm crossing my fingers that it will have English text option like certain other handheld remakes of Final Fantasy games so that I can import!
author=prexus link=topic=438.msg5818#msg5818 date=1196915542I'm pretty sure it has stylus controls in battle, for sure, since, even though the battle scene in the top screen (at least, from what I remember of the scans), the menus and such are on the bottom. I'd have to look at the scans, though, to make sure.

kent: They do have The Last Remnant coming out for the 360, which is an original MO. Not sure how good it's going to be, but the battle system looks interesting enough from what I remember in GI.

And original MO? Do you mean IP?

I am looking so forward to the last remnent as i am for Final Fantasy IV for DS.
author=trance2 link=topic=438.msg5854#msg5854 date=1196977731Actually, I'm cautiously excited about that game. It's one of the games that has me interested in owning an Xbox360.

MO: Modus operandi...?
WIP's right; it's IP. I'm still getting used to calling things names other than what I usually call them. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing that I'm expanding my vocabulary of acronyms is something else altogether. :D
I guess I must've seen the scans wrong in my head, then. 'Cause I do remember there being something sizable on the bottom screen. It might've been just the ATB or something. Like I said, I'd have to look again.
