IDEA FOR RMXP GAME

Well, as many people know, I just got my RMXP, so I have been fiddling around with it, and I have decided on an idea I will base my next game on. It is a fairly rough idea, but I think it will work well for an RPG.

There was once a peaceful world. The planet was covered with several races and creatures, yet they all still lived happily in harmony. Racism was no issue. Unfourtunatly, a Dark Being came from a far off planet, and summoned up his magic. He began turning creatures and a few races to his sie, making them take over the planet for him. A wizard, who had seeken refuge on this planet in order to escape all the problems magic created, summoned up a powerful boundry that would stop all magic from getting through. Now the world was divided into two regions. One full of evil, and one which was safe. Several years passed by, not one soul on the evil side was untouched by the magic which was brought about. Finally, the evil being finds a way to weaken the boundry. Some corrupt creatures and races are beginning to get through, and so the Border guard is born. You are a younger man, and you have long been friends with the wizard (with no idea that he is, in fact, a wizard) and you no nothing of magic.

I have yet to go from there, and I am tired of typing. I realize tht this is rather roughly typed out, but I think the general idea is there. I think I will name the game "Bound Evil", or something to that effect, but names for characters and the game would be appreciated. This will be a choose your class/race kind of game.
I like it. I think "The Border to Darkness" or something may be another idea for a title, but this is a really nice start. I also think that allowing the player to name the character would be a nice touch. As for class names and other characters, I can't think of any, cause I mean it when I say that names are my worst department in RPG Making.
It's a good idea; kind of reminiscent of the Wall in the Song of Ice and Fire series, where all the strange, otherworldly creatures are trapped on the other side.

Idea for later events: the wizard guy teaches you how to use magic, and gives you a strange artifact he says will help you later on. A powerful creature breaks through the Border, and kills several guards before you get to it; after being near-fatally wounded, the creature attempts to jump back across the Border, but drags you and your party with it by accident. Trapped in the World of Darkness on the other side of the Border, you have to find the rest of your party (which doesn't take too long) and find a way to return to your Side. You are helped by the wizard, who is able to communicate with you using the artifact thing he gave you earlier. Maybe the wizard is from the other side, as well?

Titles suggested so far aren't bad, but I'd say "Dark Divide" would be good.
I'm glad to hear everyone is enjoying the idea. I am actually now deciding how I want to do the character selection. I would like to let the character pick their race and class, but then I would need battlers for each race with a different weapon, so I may have to make it so you just pick your race, and that determines your weapon, and then you pick your class, determining some more of your stats and abilities.
That would be the easier way out of it and knowing me i would probably do the same thing as you. ;)
I am making a similar game as far as customization, mainly to experiment around with it. I don't implement race, just gender and class. I imagine it would be similar to that.

But yeah, adding new sprites for each thing is a bit of a pain, I know. I just decided to use the RTP on that game just to simplify it. I may change that once I get more involved in it.
Well, as a small update, I currently have 16 classes. The classes are male/female selectable (which I counted each as a seperate class) and change which weapons you can use. For instance, a Wood Elf Archer Female is one class. Afterwards, you select your actual "class", which I will make at least 2 for each race selection.
