1, is a request.

Does anyone have a farm chipset for rm2k3?

Like one with unplowed earth, different type of seeds, different finished plants, that sort of thing?

If so, post please :)


2, is a help question


Is there anyway to make an item have a requirement before you can use it? Besides the amount of cash required, of course.

Like a mithrille sword requiring 250 attack. I dunno.
For the second one you'll need to use a common event.
In said event use the variable command to check how much attack/strength the character you want to weild the sword has. Then use a fork command -
IF variable =/< 200
<nothing>
ELSE
IF Hero 1 has Equipped
Unequip sword
END
END

Basically if you have over 200 Strength, then nothing happens when you equip the sword, but if you have less than 200 Strength, if the sword is equipped it will be automatically unequipped.

Another way to do this is to have two versions of the sword - one that your hero can use and one that s/he can't. Then use the conditional branches to check if the hero has the required amount of strength. If not, then add the sword that can't be equipped to the pack, dropping the one that can be. If they do, take the sword that can't and add the one that can.
I like Liberty's 2nd solution better for the sword issue. Otherwise the player might run into battle expecting be be armed with a sweet new sword, but then actually not.
Ok, I think I like his first better.

One question though. Would I be able to put in a message saying (for example), "You can't wield that yet!" so that they don't run into battle with the Doom Sword of Awesome?




Oh and a new question :P

I'm making a game where you can type in a name to become your new name. Like what you do at the beginning of Crono Trigger, Golden Sun, Secret of Mana, pretty much EVERY SINGLE FREAKING GAME.

I can't figure out how to get it though. If you get anything, that'd be great. :)

There should be a built in name changer {Enter Hero Name?} on the second page/first column of event commands. It's not perfect but it gets the job done. If you'd like a better version then you should google some RM2K tutorials "Name changer" or "Input name".

As for adding a message, yeah you should be able to put one in. Just a note though - with the first sword unequip idea there may be a problem of you equipping the item , then it being unequipped after you leave the menu - not straight away. That's why Drakonais said the second idea was better. The best thing to do is to check both out and see which one you like better.
To add the message just put one in before or after the unequipping of the sword.

Alright. I tried Enter Hero Name, and it's like this:

"current name" change to "_________"


This is all in a window, so the user can't input a name. I'm thinking of trying to use the password thing and a variable or something.

Thanks for the info on equipping. :)

There's two change hero name's. On the first page is the one that allows the creator to change the hero name, but near the top of the second page there's the one that lets the player type in the hero name.
