Yay, a fan! My sprites were easy to make. Just copy and paste several parts of the RTP sprites together into frankensprites.

There, I posted.

You will likely need $$$ for this.
Well after about 2 hours I gave up and just recolored FFIV sprites.
Sorry for all of you who wanted to help.
:(
Thank you for posting!
You will fail on your 100th attempt as well.

This might be something...big surprise...that takes a bit of e - effort.
I'll do it if the idea interests me enough. PM with details.
Well I'm on my 100th attempt and I am getting the hang of doing CUSTOM sprites

I haven't seen any professional spriters here, $$$ is for real companies who make games to hire people with. There's lots of people who will draw out some sprites for any of these kinds of individual hobby projects. It's about community.

However,

You need a nice solid idea first and some promising content. It has to look like you're going to finish the game and that the game will be fun. And because of that, it looks like you're only going to get help for something you can do yourself but would rather have someone else do it in a way you feel is much better. Or if people flake out you can go and save the project yourself.

(Actually I dunno if he's done them professionally but he is talented)

Nope. Lots of amateur developers also pay for sprites, even if they can't always pay a lot. Making the graphics for a game is a very time consuming thing, so $$$ would be a good way to keep your artist on board. It also sucks for the artist if the person decides to cancel the project and they've done all this graphical work on it. Plus, paying for sprites generally helps you get higher quality spriters.

This could be true though, but it's a bit based on luck and if your project looks good. The more graphics you have to do, the less likely you'll have someone to help you though unfortunately. That and also if you want it fully custom, it's harder to find people who can do it.

I think it's a pretty good idea to at least edit sprites and make simple graphics so you can shape your game to look more like how you wanted it to.
