"PROPER" WAY TO REVIEW?

Is there some proper way to review games, like a standardized rubric, or are we free to review games however we wish?

There is no standard definition of a review, just needs to be of a reasonable length. I suggest taking a look at some of our recently posted reviews and using those as a basis.
