Man... Punk is really the only kind of music worth anything.
Meh, although I love punk, I hafta agree.
(I like ska better though.)

Ska is punk though too right?
debatable depending on the group.
this is decidedly punk, though, even though it is primarily ska.
but it's the reel big fish, so who cares.
also, that album art is fucking genius.
Punk-pop is probably my favorite genre.
The Ergs!- Dorkrockcorkrod is one of the best albums ever. I really liked Chinese Telephones album as well, and ofcourse early stuff by Screeching Weasel and the Queers is just classic.
Lots of different kinds of punk music, Fugazi is a punk band and very technically proficient. I guess the problem is the make many on a genre, the mainstream has to limit it's definition drastically. Not all punk is southern Californian three chords fast drums singing.
Ska is good for dancing.

So it Katy Perry pop punk? I'm not ashamed to admit I like her music, and just her in general...
no, just pop.
I prefer more progressive punk, especially the stuff with skate/surf and hardcore influences. Wilhelm Scream, Goldfinger, Dead Kennedys, Belvedere, Alexisonfire, Thrice.... etc. Pop-puink seems so uninspired to me after hearing punk musicians aim for so much more with thier musicianship.
Pop punk really has two definitions. The first being very "poppy" punk that's due to a strong influence by the Ramones, and the second being punk music that's made accessible to teenagers with mainstream pop sensibilites. It leads to a lot of confusion. Especially since a band can be both definitions at the same time.
