Hello, I am using the RPG VX version.
I just started making my game about 3 days ago. While i have most of the functions of the system down, the Events are still giving me trouble. i've messed with them for awhile and gotten the people to talk, move, and express emotion. However i am still having problems with triggering Event scenes like Opening scenes with the characters talking to each other. I Have also run into trouble with Progression on the game, while i can talk to the chracters with long details in the dialogue, i don't know how to make it where they only say certain words at certain points in the game. Please keep in mind this is the first time i have ever tried to make a game.
If anyone could help me with this i would be most greatful.

You can use auto-start or parallel proceses to make events start automaitcally, and switches to change or turn off events as you progress through the story. Just have an event turn on a switch and set everything affected by that event to have that switch turned on as a condition.
Ah thanks for telling me that, although now i can't figure out how to work them either x.x i'm getting an infinite loop for one of my characters.
I use Rm2k3, but I assume it's the same for RMVX:
Both parallel process and auto-start events start, then, when they get to the end... start again. In order to top have an event run once (and only once), include somewhere in that event a switch option. For instance, we'll call our switch "RunOnce".
At the bottom of the event (after all the dialogue and such) add a switch option that turns RunOnce ON. I am unaware of how RMVX handles pages, but there should be an option to create a new page. On this new page, make sure it is set to run if RunOnce is ON. Leave that blank (and don't make it auto-start or parallel process) and the event will only run one time.
This works pretty simply, since the switch is a permanent change that stops the event from running again. If this makes no sense, it's because I'm unfamiliar with RMVX, but it's pretty much the same across the board for RPGMakers.

Parallel processes are a life-saver in any RM system. They add a far more professional feel to the game, with events progressing in the background as you play the product throughout.
Watered down, they simply are auto-start events without the freeze.
