TILE ART

Hey everyone, I'm new here and thought I'd introduce myself and post some tile art I've done.

Feel free to use this art for any of your personal projects, just give me credit please.
Some of this is supposed to be animated and such, but I hope you guys can figure it out. ^^

I know some of this doesn't make sense on its own, and it's hard to explain. This is just a filler tile for a spot in rpgmakervx that was being stupid.

A .wmv file, sorry if that doesn't work for some of you, and it's poor quality but I didn't wanna wait all day for the upload.

Free art for all, enjoy, hope it helps some of you guys, crits welcomed, etc.

The Mage town one is my favorite. I love the tree lamps and the tree clock. I dunno when each of the resources were done, but it seems like the Mage town is later, because the trees in the mage town are a huge improvement over the ones in the forest (ironically :D)

It'd be nice to have a more consistant set of resources though, like a bunch of stuff in the Mage town style to go for other places too if someone wants to use it to make a game. I imagine that'll take some time to do.
Hey thanks guys, and yeah, there are some pretty big time gaps in between the sets as it is just a hobby I rarely have time for. All of the sets are available on the website if you wanna use them, thanks for the kind words guys. Happy game making.
Quality is par for most of it, but the Mage City is most impressive. I agree with Ocean in that I'm most taken by the lamps and the clock, but I'm also rather enjoying the chimneys and fountains, as well as a number of other more subtle elements.
The steam from the chimneys also interests me but I don't know if that's yours/if you're willing to share that/if I just missed it somewhere up there?

Regardless, at this moment, you are my favorite person, because I've actually been working on something just like the lamp-trees lately, and this is a tremendous help.
haha thanks, the smoke and characters are not mine, the smoke is actually from rpgmakerxp I THINK, it's been a few years since I've messed with it.

Eventually I'd like to build a good strong, general tileset for vx, to show people it doesn't have to look so square. I just really haven't the time. The space tiles are all for vx though, hence the table layout.

If you ever did this, you would be my hero. From what I see here, it'd be a hundred times better than the Mack tiles and a million times better than the RTP.
Don't have the time? Just take it a tile a day. Or spend fifteen minutes before you go to sleep each night.
No joke, just do it.

This is really good advice. It works for me, with the benefits that your tiles tend to be of a higher quality, and that you can keep making progress on tilesets even when you're working on non-graphic assets for a project. You can never have too many tiles.

I dunno how good the "15 minutes before you sleep" advice is because when I start working on something right before bed I tend to get sucked into it for way more than 15 minutes :p but everyone's work habits are different, I guess.

Now I'm gonna make up for my initial 3 word + 1 letter reply with something constructive:

First I don't know what order you did these tilesets in or how old they each are, that being said I'm commenting on things common to all of the ones I've seen but still some things might not apply to your current level of ability:

Your tiles are way better than most of the amateur work I see lately, your settings are quite detailed and interesting and you have a good eye for color schemes. Go you! :D

However, depending on how serious you are about your pixeling hobby, you may or may not want to round your skills out more by working on AA, getting some of the seams out of your ground tiles, and maybe even color reduction as well (keeping color count low isn't necessarily just for pixel purists who are stuck in the 80s or people who are obsessed with file sizes, using smaller palettes correctly in individual tiles and sprites can make shading clearer and easier to read even for tiny details).

Pixel art is my personal favorite medium, I just loooove seeing fresh pixels and giving feedback so if you produce any new pixels don't hesitate to post em :D
