For me, mobility is really important, but the power of the Sony is also really tempting. They are both the same thickness, 1.2 inches, the Sony is 5.5 pounds and the HP is 4.1. The Sony is more powerful ... but I really like the sleekness of the HP.

I do not trust HP laptops. Every single friend I know who's had one has had horrible overheating problems.
You're buying a PC- always go with the extra power.

YDS, the Vaio is the much, much better option. HP's can suck it. Asides from that HP seems to have an extreme lack of reliability and there is a reason they don't weigh as much. They aren't as sturdy as the Sony Vaio.
Given that the only laptops I've had any experience with are VAIOs, I say go with those.

Fixed that for you
(although in this case the Viao has a better performance/price)
