Do you have the party start position or the teleport to location set correctly? Also, check the Tileset tab of your database and check to see if passability of all the tiles are set correctly. If they are a bunch of X's then ur doing it wrong.
Lastly, make sure you don't have an autostart event running endlessly on whatever map you're using (or in a common event).
