I haven't been on in a while cuz my old PC got a virus, so I got a nw PC and it's got windows7 on it.
So I was wondering what makers would work, particularly 2003.

Rm2k and 2k3 work if you run them in compatibility mode for Windows XP. XP and VX work (though some VX games won't work for some reason) and I know that Adventure Game Studio and Game Maker work fine as well.

Both 2k and 2k3 work just fine for me in Windows 7. However, I suggest not using old makers in Windows 7 because both of them seem to use some weird graphics and sound library that was always a bit twitchy sometimes. XP and up seem to use the DirectX interface fully and you'll generally get awesome compatibility with anything that uses OpenGL and DirectX strictly.
I love 2k/3, but it gets harder to work with as software gets newer. Compared to other engines like Acknex, Acknex runs as well on Windows 98 as it does in Windows 7 because they started using DirectX since like version 4 and dropped their ancient DOS render system. Acknex itself is much older than RPG Maker 2K/3 but it was programmed much better by people who actually knew what they were doing.

Or took care when creating it.
Um, I have no problems with my 2K and 2K3 working on W7. At all. If anything XP has problems that kill being able to use it. Even the sounds are alright for 2K/3, for me at least.

Right click on some program, properties, and in one of the tabs lets you change the compatibility mode for several operating systems.
