You know, like some of the music in "The Longing Ribbon?"
Seriously. Here's some examples...
This music is powerful to me, I immediately think of things like death and survival horror games (like, the second song, "Frozen", reminds me of some Resident Evil and Fallout 1 and 2 music).
Anyway, does anyone else find this stuff powerful?
EDIT: I didn't listen to the third one all the way before I posted it...it creeps me out at about 2:30. O_O;
EDIT AGAIN: Also, if you want, post some more dark ambient music you guys/gals have found.

When it comes to dark ambient stuff, I prefer it done the way Mortiis does it:
But yeah, the feeling in dark ambient song is very powerful at times.

i like cows.
also, they're some tibetan horns or something
EDIT: I just realized I sounded like an asshole (rightfully so) but I can't really take mortiis seriously after hearing fanget i krystal 5 years ago. I've heard his later stuff (which on the other hand isn't really ambient at all) but it really isn't my thing.
EDIT 2:
I forgot some other artists similar to what we're looking for in this thread, for example, SILBERNACHT (Liebe und Verfall), Mono & World's End Girlfriend (Palmless Prayer/Massacre Refrain) and, depending on how strict we are to the term "ambient" or not; Ulver (anything after Natten's Madrigal, Perdition City and The Ep's before and after in particular) and Dead Can Dance (which really isn't ambient imo but some people think it works as background/mood music. As for me, I can do nothing but marvel at it's brilliance :/)

Nothing says "dark ambience" like a belt sander running along a rubber hose.
Well, this sort of journeys from ambience to rock-the-fuck-out and back to ambience. I love these guys...
Yes I too like depressing myself
