FOREVERRRRRRR TOGETHER
correction:
HEH no
So, where would be the quickest place to level up my Hercross (currently on lv 21...want to get it to 30 before I continue). I just got to Olivine and I don't want to swim to Cianwood until I get my Heracross up to level 30. I want to grind against wild pokemon, so where would the best place to do that be?

EDIT: I'm currently grinding just south of Ecruteak on route 37. The wild Stantlers there give me about 350 EXP each (though, sometimes they barely show up...other times I'll run into, like, 3 in a row). Wondering if there is a better place to grind than this spot.

god damn, you guys blow through pokemon games. i'm only barely past falkner. i take my time with this shit.
I haven't even decided on a team to use, or even who should be the leader :(

(maybe I should actually use a starter an-naaaaaah)
as long as you have a geodude for strength / rock smash
Geodudes only need one move: Explosion

Bonus points if it is shiny
HMs are bonuses

what about rollout?

defense curl -> rollout is pretty murderous considering rollout gets a bonus for high user weight
No, just from defense curl and consecutive attacks.

And HM moves need to die and get replaced by something not so shitty. At the rate pokemon games change this might happen by..... gen 7

Except Surf. Surf is cool.

And Waterfall.

The ROMs freeze up after every 24 actions apparently. Quite a weird anti-piracy mechanism.

Doesn't it kind of defeat the whole "beat the snot out of your friends" (i.e. the entire point of having one) aspect?

Not if you use a flash cart.

fixed, pokemon and actual changes are like ketchup and icecream to gamefreak.
It took until 4th gen for then to change the system from stats used for damage based on move type to a per-move basis so there is always hope!

Wait...what are you hoping for again? Explain in a slightly more dull way, or rather how exactly was damage calculated...?
In gens 1-3, when you used an attacking move the attacking stat (Attack or Special Attack) used was based off the type of the attack. If you used a water move, the game would always use the attacker's special attack and the defender's special defense while for fighting moves regular attack and defense would be used. In Gen4 it was changed so the move would determine if regular or special attack+defense was used instead of the move's type determining what was used. So now you can have Surf, a water move, use special attack+defense while Waterfall, also a water move, would use regular attack+defense.

Bonus aside: In Gen1 there was only Special which was both Special Attack and Defense. This helped special be completely unbalanced and overpowered. Bonus+ Aside: Amnesia, which is supposed to just increase special defense increases both special attack and defense making it the best buff move of Gen1.
