PLAYING/EDITING JAPANESE RPG MAKER 2003 GAMES

So there are some Japanese RPG Maker 2003 games that I want to play, and I have my language for non-unicode programs set to Japanese, but I haven't have any luck in getting Japanese text to show up, either when I look through the game in the editor or when I try to play it. Is there a replacement font that I have to install, or is there some other thing I have to do in order to play Japanese games?

Even if you could use a program to translate it word for word, I doubt the result would be particularly coherent.

Short of learning to read Japanese, I don't think there's a good solution for this problem.
I know how to read Japanese, and wasn't planning on translating these games, I just want to play them in Japanese. The problem is that the font is showing up garbled.
You need to install some Japanese fonts or whatever fonts they used for the game.
I have another problem with a japanese game...
The guy translated the game, but the original file names are apparently still in japanese... which means rm2k3 doesn't recognize the files in the folder because it can't read their names.

This is the game I'm talking about:

Any possible solutions?

MS Gothic and stuff are Japanese fonts.

You will also probably have to have the Japanese RTP installed.

Also, for quick translation I suggest using DreaMaker to rip the text and reinsert it after using a free translation utility.
