ARE THESE MAPS GOOD ENOUGH?

Ok, so as some of you know I've been trying to improve my mapping skills over the past week. And now that I've gotten tips from some of the more known/skilled members of the site, I've tried to make some maps in a way that might be better than the ones my previous game was denied upon. So now I've come to ask the question, would these maps be good enough? First I apologize, if the only way to find out if the maps are good enough would be to submit a gameprofile, if it is, just move this to the city dump and notify me. Second, at this point, I still think the answer would be "no" to these maps, I'm more interested in seeing if I've improved at all, and what I still need some work on. Thank you in advance for any feedback you guys can give me, and I apologize as well if this somehow breaks a screenshot rule, or some other forum regulation.

First, the world map (Sorry Max I had to make a big map just to see what I could do). I felt this one actually didn't turn out all that bad for a giant map. I made sure to make the environment, varying, interesting, and above all, visually pleasing to the player.

Second, my indoor map. I think this one wasn't all that great, if only because I suck at indoor maps, I find them to limiting. But I attempted to NOT make it just a square shape like my previous indoor buildings. I felt that the downstairs of a home such as this would include a small library, a dining room, and of course, the kitchen. (The stairs lead to the bedrooms upstairs, I didn't link that map).

Finally, my outdoor map. While some of you guys were helping me with that other small map in the other forum, I wanted to make something with a bit more to it than just that. This is supposed to be a dining area, that grows its own food (hence the farming). I had some cut down trees, because well, a town needs wood! Especially a dining hall since they need it to start fires. The building that appears to have a stone path heading down its center is actually the entrance of a house (since I'm going with a no door approach I gave up the door and a bit more sense for the pathway into the house)

Again, thank you for your input in advance, and again apologies if this somehow breaks a forum rule.

1. Generally, using the top-down view you can't usually see the exterior and interior of buildings at the same time! When you are "OUTSIDE" you should be able to see the ROOF of the building, and only see the interior when you go INSIDE (a separate map). This is just how the 3/4 or top-down perspective works.

2. Your second map in particular is a HUGE IMPROVEMENT. However, you are using a ROOF TILE (for exteriors) instead of a CEILING TILE (for interiors). This is kind of related to what I was discussing above.
Ok responses,

1. Aight, I was just trying this as I saw someone else doing it, and thought it was kind of cool looking. I'll switch that up. I do know how to make normal doors etc. I just didn't know which system worked better.

2. Ok...I had 0 idea there was a difference between a ceiling tile and a roof tile haha. I call that an epic fail right there on my part.

Bullshit- the map he has is exactly how Lufia did it. And Lufia was fucking awesome. It's all personal preference- this is a style, and for the VX RTP, I'd say it works.
Fewer straight edges/geometric shapes in the worldmap and in natural environments. Also, for that house in the last map in the lower left, I think the walls should be thinner. If I were building a house I wouldn't make a massively thick wall jutting through the middle of it.
Aight thanks, I've been working on them, for the houses, I have already transformed them into normal indoor maps separate from the rest of the environment, sorry Tardis! As for the worldmap and other natural environments I'll work on that a bit more.
It's worth mentioning that they're much much much much much much better than the first maps you posted.

I just want to chime in that what tardis said is correct; it's definitely a stylistic preference. You don't remember how some of the old school RPGs did it?

I am not saying this is some kind of unforgivable sin just that 99% of top-down RPGs (that I've played) don't do this. I guess some really old stuff such as Dragon Warrior did it.

My fault for characterizing it as a mistake. I did use the word "generally".
Its no fault. Either way works. Well the rest of the town I think is coming along not that bad, I'll repost in this forum some of the improved maps in a couple days, since I had a party tonight, and I have another party tomorrow, and then school on monday...Man...I have WAY to much of a life.
I kind of liked the way you've done it honestly. It's a minor change but because virtually no one does it it feels fresh.
Ok...Now I'm fighting back the notion of switching back if an admin likes it haha.
Being the staff on a site doesn't really give any more insight on game design than any other user here. it just means I have more things to deal with.
Ok so I said I was gonna re-post these maps after I changed them a bit. Well here they are.

Ok, for the indoor one, all I did was switch up the walls so they are um...Actually walls. And also I added a bit to the kitchen.

For the outdoor, I again made the building an actually building. I know it seems big, but I didn't want to fill in that much more of the map yet. As for the other little changes, I knocked out some of the trees to make a couple groves in the map, as well as added a warehouse as a stockpile place for the galley nearby.
