RM2K3 JUMPING PROBLEM

I have a common event for Jumping, and it works...to an extent.
My problem is when I am facing the top edge of a cliff, which should be 30 feet high, but in reality is one tile away, my hero can jump the whole thing. Using events (I assume) how do i fix it so on one tile if hero is facing right, the hero can't jump, but other directions he can (all on one tile). Thanks...

I'm not sure I understand the question... can't you just add a conditional branch on the common event?
IF hero facing up
(nothing happens)
else
jump
?
IF hero facing up
(nothing happens)
else
jump
?
The way I address this in Darksteel is by enabling the jump on some maps, and disabling it on others. Total cop out, but I imagine this would require alot more work.
