LET'S PLAY HERO'S REALM!
Posts
After sampling this wonderful retro-RPG, I decided to make an LP out of it! This LP will be a blind playthrough, so it should be a lot of fun!
HR was recommended to me by EnderX, while we were discussing the progress of my Carlsev Saga LP. He enjoyed it and thought it would make a fine choice for a blind LP, and so far I agree.
The LP will encompass a single casual playthrough of the game, though I'll try to hit as many sidequests as possible. I heard HR is about 15 hours long, so expect at least 100 videos over the next month or so. I'll try to capture everything...unless I have to backtrack to the Church to revive a character. If I die ten times against a tough boss, I'm sure you'll get a kick out of it :) Nevertheless, when it comes to dying constantly, I'm not as over-the-top as ProtonJon.
I'd love to LP more games in the future, especially once my commentary skills improve.
(Yes, I have a New England/Rhode Island accent...sorry.)

You might want to expand this to include your intentions with the LP and maybe some background or history or something!
Also, I will have to wait until I get home to see this as Youtube is blocked at work. :(

So I watched this and its pretty good! Seeing though how it's a blind playthrough I hope that you don't run into any glaring bugs. I will be watching the rest!
Glad you like it! I'm going to provide some feedback as I go -- both complements and suggestions. I'll try to upload 2-3 videos per day.
Ambitious!
I've created a blog post on my gameprofile highlighting this LP: http://rpgmaker.net/games/82/blog/2390/

It gives me something to do in the 2-3 hours between classes on Mondays thru Fridays, especially since I'm dirt poor right now :) I'd much rather play indie games than questionable commercial games.
Edit: If I diss support classes in the LP, it's not you -- it's just my bad times with the calculator/thief/dancer classes in other games.

Oh ho ho! Another LP for an RPG Maker game! And this time it is a fairly GOOD RPG Maker game! I see a bunch out there on youtube, but a lot of them are... ehhh. Now I have another LP to keep track of! Oh ho.
Nice work so far, Deckiller.

I'll watch this after I finish some errands. I tested it just to check your voice, and it is like I am at home (I am a Mainer). Thankfully, I didn't hear an "ayuh," though.
Thanks, Ephiam. Hopefully my Carlsev LPs don't fall into that category, hehe :)
Edit: Maine's a great state; I have some relatives in the Bangor area.

Despite having played quite far into HR myself, I only just now realized I'm in the intro credits (for testing!). How have I never realized this before? It's a mystery!
Watching this LP, I can't really say your accent is thick or, for the most part, even noticeable. So far, it's pretty good!

Thanks :) I make some pretty epic screwups in later editions, including some deaths, so it should be pretty entertaining.
EDIT: Episodes 6 and 7 are about to be posted.

I'll watch this in a bit. I'm looking forward to it, though. I never had the patience to get past even chapter one.
Let's Play are always the second best option for experiencing a game you've never played. =)

I hope you enjoy it :) I'm already on chapter 2. After playing through FF13, my patience has returned, heh.
post=133600post=133599I know what you mean. =/

I enjoyed it, but the battles were, literally, battles. They took quite a bit of thought and endurance, even when well prepared.
Just finished watching part 1. And, yeah, I can tell you're from the north easily. XD
To be honest, I'd prefer voice overs because I'd prefer not to READ something if I'm already WATCHING something. I'm not really complaining, I'm just saying I'm not going to be reading what everyone is saying.
Other than that, it looks pretty good so far. Keep it up! =D
EDIT: Okay, well that's kinda lie. I'm finding myself reading the dialogue as long as you're not talking during it. XD

You talk about about the music in the beginning but because of the speakers it is impossible to hear any of it
I generally hate blind runs but this was pretty good
(also when you LP RPGs you should not be afraid to edit stuff out especially if it takes more than two tries to beat a boss. I'd also edit out any random encounters unless its the first time you are seeing a certain enemy.)

That's a good idea. The program I use only splits the avi; any suggestions for good cheap editing programs?
Edit: In the meantime, I'll just press the ctrl button after the first few random encounters. I'll level in between video takes. It will start to take effect around part 16 or so.
Edit 2: So I tried out the minimum random encounters strategy, and I was able to breeze through about 5-6 dungeons in as many playthroughs. Nice call.
