Winston Churchill: "Americans can be trusted to do the right thing...after they're tried everything else."

Anyway Kentona I know every college is supposedly that but mine actually was.

It disgusts me that these individuals use something as sacred as tea as their banner.

There's a saying, by Winston Churchill

If you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative by the time you're 35, you have no brain

This quote is actually a bastardization of a quote from George Bernard Shaw...

"If at age 20 you are not a Communist then you have no heart. If at age 30 you are not a Capitalist then you have no brains."

"Any man who is not a communist at the age of twenty is a fool. Any man who is still a communist at the age of thirty is an even bigger fool."

... depending on who you ask.

Obama could poop solid gold, diamond encrusted turds...and they will still be against him for one reason and one reason only.

A black president just doesn't sit right with a lot of people...people who spent their entire lives thinking that they weren't bigots or racists. Reality became a bit too much.
Indeed it is. Shame he isn't black, in my eyes.

do you have any idea the rectal damage that would do

Not this "people hate Obama because he is black, he's such a victim" crap again.

well

a lot of people do. It's not something to focus on, but it's not something that just plain out doesn't exist either. Hell, it would be wrong to say it's not even significant. It's easy for people to say 'oh racism is so yesterday, but believe me, it's alive and well! A lot of those people who shuddered at the thought of everyone using the same water fountain or everyone going to the same school are still alive today, and many of those people have passed that shit down to their kids and their grandkids.

While yes, there will be racists that vote against/do not approve of Obama no matter the reason, the fact is that no one approves of anyone 100% of the time. Our elections in recent years have become generally more contentious, venomous and hate-filled then they were for the past century or so (and closer electorally, too) and honestly I am surprised I did not see more racist rhetoric.

It is easier to say this when you are a pasty Brit and not a black American. =)

That is not to say that Britain has not gone through numerous issues related to ethnicity and nationality (once a major imperial power, after all), but that the United States is still coming out of the mindsets of the generation that grew up in the 60s. The victimization of minorities will be a hot button topic for quite awhile.

FTR: I kind of wish Washington would implode so we could start all over again.

I suspect that most of this "Tea Party Movement" dislike him because they think he is a Communist, not because he is black.

You have a lot to learn about American society, my friend.

ADDENDUM: I'm not saying that the root of Obama's opposition is because of his race. I'm also aware that at least some of his support is because he's black. Furthermore, I'm not daring to accuse people who don't like Obama to be racists; some of course really do feel he's a Communist/Socialist (which is a brand of stupid for another topic), and some are just honest Americans who don't agree with his policy. But the issue of the racial factor in America is not to be underestimated, because it still exists, and it's still pretty significant, even for the President.

Anecdotal evidence; I've heard, and seen, sometimes face to face (which is really ballsy, considering that I'm, you know, mostly black), people say 'I don't support Obama because he's black/not white', and I've even heard someone with enough gusto to say 'I don't care what policies he brings forth or if I happen to agree with everything he says; I cannot support a black president in any scenario ever'.

Racism is still around!

Of course some people will never support Obama because he is black.

However, some people will always support Obama precisely because he is black.

Despite this, you only ever hear about the former, resulting in "He is such a victim!" syndrome amongst his supporters. He is the President of the United States, how much of an adverse effect as his race really had on his career?

Personally, I don't think his standing is changed as a result of his race (in either direction). I suspect that most of this "Tea Party Movement" dislike him because they think he is a Communist, not because he is black.

I'm sorry...where exactly do you see this "he is such a victim" syndrome? I'm curious to know what the symptoms are, if you don't mind obliging.

Edit: Oh, you're British. Lol. *Sigh*
My good sir...I can't possibly speak and judge on the state of affairs in britain from my nice, cozy condo here in florida, so please try to understand that people inside of a situation just might know a bit more than you do. It seems to be very hard for people to say "I don't know" these days. It doesn't make you stupid.

If you lived here, then you might understand how lifelong democrats that were poised to vote that way suddenly changed their minds when Hilary lost the primary.

The reason why people KNOW that communism isn't the real reason is because most of the tea party movement can't even spell communism, much less know what it means.

This video is pretty long but watch the first 1 or 2 minutes, and you just might understand a bit more about how things work in the good old usa.

So...an uninformed opinion has just as much value and weight as an informed opinion...?

Are you sure you're not American?
