One member complained that the Playstation games were all lumped into the same Top 10 while the Nintendo games were separated into separate Top 10s. (I thought it was Him, but I was wrong!! It was R.C.Holbert!)

Well.

Due to special request, this week we have the...

..:: Top 10 List of Favorite PS2 Games ::..

...But I don't own a PS2, sooooo I have nothing to list.

Enjoy!

1) Okami
- Simply fantastic. I saw the trailer and knew I had to get that game. I loved nearly every part of the game, the graphics, music, the game, almost everything. The plot was too wordy at times and the end-game 'dungeon' was disappointing, but everything else outweighs those problems and then some. Simply fantastic.
(I suppose it helps that I liked the 'voiceovers'/grunts used instead of getting annoyed by them)

2) Wild ARMs 3
- A love or hate game, and I fell into the "Love" category. The plot is as stupid as shit (especially in the last chapter), but the characters and gameplay were more than enough to make me love it. I never did finish it though, what with the 100 floor dungeon that you can save in, but its hardly necessary to enjoy the game.

3-10) Uh, I'll get back to you on that. The next eight are kinda up in the air for who gets in at what positions.
My top ten would have to be:

10. Naruto Ultimate Ninja 2.
9. Blood Will tell.
8. Guitar Hero 3.
7. Dynasty Warriors 2.
6. Top Spin.
5. Soul Calibur 2.
4. Final Fantasy 12.
3. One Piece Grand Adventure. (AWESOME)
2. Valkyrie Profiles 2.
1. Final Fantasy 10.
I shall try! But I think I'll do 8 instead of 10, because I haven't played 10 really good Playstation 2 games, unfortunately.

8. Ratchet and Clank (The Glove of DOOM!)
7. Psychonauts (Ridiculously funny and somewhat creepy at the same time)
6. Odin Sphere (Brawler/RPG/Farming Sim with the best 2D graphics ever)
5. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (Really well executed)
4. Final Fantasy XII (You can walk around aimlessly for hours; plus Balthier is awesome)
3. Dragon Quest VIII (Not wildly experimental, but it knows its stuff)
TIE: Okami (A god game where you're compelled to do good? Horrors!)
and Shadow of the Colossus (Stupid turtle creature...)
1.) Kingdom Hearts II
2.) God of War
3.) Kingdom Hearts
4.) Soul Calibur 3
5.) God of War II
6.) Shadow of the Colossus
7.) Final Fantasy XII
8.) Okami
9.) Odin Sphere
10.) Final Fantasy X
(I'm leaving out Megaman X Collection, because I don't think that really counts!)

1) Guitar Hero Series
2) FFXII
3) Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI
4) Okami
5) Soul Calibur 2/3
I'll bite:

With some games still in my backlog, I'll rate them like this for now:

1 - Dragon Quest 8
2 - Suikoden 5
3 - Wild Arms 5
4 - Tales of the Abyss
5 - Odin Sphere
6 - Rogue Galaxy
7 - Atelier Iris 2
8 - Atelier Iris 1
9 - Radiata Stories
10- Shadow Hearts 2

Grim Grimoire could wind up on this list, but it's in the backlog. I'm getting Mana Khemia in the spring, so we'll see if that makes the list or not, since I'm a Gust fanboy.

I've been super tempted to pick up Suikoden V. I hear it's just really good even if it does have terrible load times.
1 - Suikoden V
2 - Dragon Quest VIII
3 - Legend of Legaia II
4 - Wild ARMs 3
5 - Dark Cloud
6 - Suikoden III
7 - Suikoden Tactics
8 - Harvest Moon
9 - FF XII
10 - FF X

I would have put Suikoden IV... but I hate it. Same with Star Ocean 3. I need new games.
It is the second best of the Suikoden series (Suikoden II was better ^.^). Suikoden > DQ/W > FF It'd be well worth it.

3 - Legend of Legaia II

Is this a joke?

Man I think I have played every single PS2 game ever. This will be tough. Curiously, all of my favorite PS2 games are Japanese titles that are exclusive to the system. I didn't really start like US console games until the 360 came around.

10. Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter - This is a pretty strange blend of roguelike and jRPG and it works shockingly well. There are a lot of bad Japanese dungeon crawlers but this is definitely the best.

9. Xenosaga III - All in all the Xenosaga games are absolutely terrible, but the third game is stellar. I think that if this had been the first game in the series it would have been a much more successul series of games.

8. Devil May Cry 1 and 3 - Again, these two games are interchangeable. DMC 3 is much better, but both titles are at the top of their game. I think these are better games than Onimusha, but I like Onimusha a little more despite them being the same game.

7. Onimusha 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 - These games are basically interchangeable. I seem to recall that Onimusha 2 was overall the best-realized. 3 and 4 tacked on a lot of useless systems and ended up getting really messy in terms of features, but the core gameplay was still rock-solid. Replaying Onimusha 1 in a panda suit is hillarious for at least half of the game.

6. Final Fantasy X - This is sometimes described as the last of the old-style Final Fantasies. It's also one of the best. When it first came out everyone talked about how it was THE DEATH OF FINAL FANTASY, but incidentally, when XII came out, this game suddenly became a treasured classic. Weird. One of the things I like about this game is its inexhaustable supply of secret super-bosses that kill you in one hit.

5. Romancing SaGa - This game is just surreal and intentionally broken in every single way. It's so good if you can sort of forget your preconceptions about RPGs and kind of give it the benefit of the doubt.

4. Final Fantasy X-2 - I don't think many people understand that this game is actually a parody and is incredibly sophisticated. Plus, the gameplay rocks and there are pretty girls in it.

3. Metal Gear Solid 3 - The best stealth-action game ever. The RPG elements they tacked on (an inventory screen, healing items, etc) are actually really lame, but the enemy AI is surprisingly good. This is also the sort of game that is more fun the third time you play through than the first time because of all of its subtle nuances.

2. Final Fantasy XII - Probably my second-favorite game. It's only real drawback is that the boss fights are extremely lame. Because of the nature of the combat system, which is designed to make exploring dungeons as snappy and fun as possible, it was impossible to make really good boss fights.

1. Dragon Quest VIII - Perfectly balanced, impeccably designed, and brimming with personality. It's my favorite game ever. If I ever recommended one RPG to anyone it would be this one.
Here's the rest of my list, now that I can look at my games and remember the favorites.

3) Dynasty Warriors 3
My personal favorite of the DW franchise. DW4 ruined the game with Kingdom-Musou Mode and DW5 was always YouVs.HugeFuckingEnemyMobs (why the hell is Cao Cao outnumbered at Chibi?). DW3 never really felt like it was just you vs. the enemy army.

4) Wild ARMs 4
The advent of the HEX battle system, which is a lot of fun. There were other things that made playing the game a blast which overcame the painful 'KIDS VS ADULTS' theme of the plot. Plus, it had a chainsaw boss, which is instantly awesome.

5) Suikoden 3
This was actually my first Suikoden game. My first playthrough ended horribly due to an initial speedbump and being underleveled, but after clearing that the game took off and I loved it.
I've been meaning to get to playing Suikoden 5, but I keep forgetting about it :(

6) Wild ARMs 5
I'd consider the HEX in this game a step back compared to WA4, some of the things I liked about WA4 were changed. Not that it stopped the game from being fun though! The frequency of bosses is different, and its fun and painful at the same time. I've gotten stuck at 'rinky-dink' mid-dungeon bosses in this game which is a downer due to their aforementioned frequency. The writing varies in quality, some parts are painful while others are great. Also, absolutely kick ass music.

7) God Hand
The greatest game I never finished. Again, silly plot but the characters and gameplay make up for it. Hard as god damn hell though, and I'm probably going to restart the game on Easy because I just can't beat the game on normal.

8) Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits
A tactical battle system done right, every time I play a Nippon Ichi game, I wish they stepped up their battle system to something more like this game. Regular battles were a lot of fun and the two-perspective approach to the plot was interesting (although I'd say Suikoden 3 did better with its three/four-perspectives)
Fuck the final dungeon though. And the entire plot around it.

9) Valkyrie Profile - Silmaria (aka 2)
A step up from the Valkyrie Profile battle system. That and how you explore dungeons makes this game a lot of fun. There's still a lot of problems though: characters aren't as unique as they were in Valkyrie Profile 1, and killing items trying to get that one item so you can learn some skills or make items can be simply horrible at times.

10) None of my other games are really jumping at me for 10th spot, so I'll just end it here with my Top Nine PS2 games.
10: Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
9: Kingdom Hearts
8: Prince of Persia Sands of Time
7: Final Fantasy X
6: Metal Gear Solid 3
5: Dragon Quest VIII
4: Final Fantasy XII
3: ICO
2: Okami
1: Shadow of the Colossus

To be honest this list is kind of lame. I have not played a lot of the PS2 games that I want to, and some of these games I don't even like a ton, just the best I have on the system.

This was a really cheesy and unremarkable game overall in my opinion, but I thought it was incredibly awesome that at the end you get to choose whether the humans or the deimos win when they meet up and fight.
No joke. I liked it for the large amount of character interaction, the side quests, the battle system and the small extras that made it fun. I'm not saying that it's perfect by any stretch of the imagination and the story was pretty awful, but it's one of my faves for what's in it.
Then again, I haven't played half the stuff that's been mentioned yet. What's on my list are about the only PS2 games I have - as well as SO3, Unlimited Saga, Dark Chronicle, Ephemeral Phantasia, The Snow Queen's Quest and Orphen. Yeah. I need better RPGs.

Hell, I don't know if I own ten PS2 games! Okay, so I do, but whatever.

10) This was hard. Shadow Hearts 2 was a great romp (for one disc), FFX has a killer battle system, and Xenosaga 1 made me love the series. I can't really decide, so I'm just going to give this to FFVI, which is my second-favorite game ever. It's also for the SNES, but that doesn't matter.

9) Suikoden V -- McDohl and I only agree on one thing in this world: Belcoot is sexy. See DQ8 for everything else.

8) Dragon Quest 8 -- It's Dragon Quest. It's got great 3D. It's got British voices (well, to American ears). It's really fucking long and progression takes forever. It has Trode.

7) Odin Sphere -- I picked this up on a whim the other day. It turned out to be a fighting game with RPG stats and an excellent story. But... ... ... it isn't perfect. I still like other games better.

6) Tales of the Abyss -- Way too long for the story (it should have ended ten hours ago!), but overall pretty well done. I love the music, and Guy is my favorite videogame guy ever. <3 <3 <3

5) FFXII -- I can only play this game in short bursts about once a month, but it's still a good game. I'm a fan of hack-and-slash combined with character customization... let's just say that I have multiple saves in this one. =D It's also a really crappy game, but see above. Balthier is also very pretty.

4) Jak and Daxter -- I don't really play platforming games, but I bought Jak 2 and I like it a lot. I've beaten it 43534535345436375 times!

3) Jak 3 -- I don't really play platforming games, but I bought Jak 3 and I like it a lot. I've beaten it twice!

2) Xenosaga 3 -- XENOSAGA THREE. I was on my knees crying during the ending. To be honest, I had NO IDEA what went on during the entire series, but the characters were so well-done I felt like I had no idea what was going on with them. Well, except Jin. I hated Jin, but that's a good thing-- he had a character I could hate. I loved his attacks, though!

1) FFX-2 -- I love this game. No three girly butts about it. The story is so simple it's fun, the battle system is amazing, the graphics are great, the costumes are ridiculous, and the world is detailed and alive (yet you only visit, like, 12 little areas). Gippal is cute, LeBlanc is a great villain, Paine is awesome and you can duel Cactuars. There's also some lesbian undertones for you straight males (...and lesbians...?) out there.
That is really the only reason why i didn't have Final Fantasy X-2 in my top ten list. I found the game to be very girly mostly cause of the characters. Other than that i agree on what craze said. The story and battle system were just great.

...

The only thing that I thought was girly was the GiRL POWER cutscenes (i.e. story) and dresssphere changes (i.e. battles).
