ClosePlayed it and never completed it. Managed to get to just around where you can fght the Gargoyle before, but now I can't get past that sodding thief fight, 'cause the bugger is too damn quick and powerful.
If anything, that game's difficulty really came from whatever you specced your characters as. Though once you figure out that Stat Spells stack and don't fade, difficulty really quickly drops in fights.

Yeah the game is broken as hell depending 100% on stats.
I played it recently and having been in the rpgmaker few about a year I knew what stats build what classes and ended up building an imposible to lose party cos my stats were so high.

It was meh. Shadow Hearts (the sequel series) was great though! 2 and 3 had their problems but the crossover of themes was very well done throughout. Oh, how I miss them.

OH MY GOD THIS GAME IS SO AMAZING!!!
The hate that it gets literally rips my soul apart. Koudelka (the character) was badass and the game was good and creepy. When I heard that Shadow Hearts was a continuation of Koudelka, my heart jumped and I bought it the first chance I could.
I really didn't have a problem with Kou's battle system. Everything else was so good I just didn't care about it.
