ANY IDEAS?

Hey, everyone.
I wanted to know peoples´ views on a few things, to help out when I go to make another game.
I was hoping people wouldn´t mind filling out a type of questionnaire, saying what things they prefer in games...

What RPG Maker do you prefer? I have them all apart from 2000.
What genre of game do you prefer? RPG, Action/Adventure, etc.
What kind of graphics? Old school, retro, RTP, etc.
What type of Battle System do you prefer? Action, sideview, frontview, etc.
What are the things do you like most in games? A good storyline, hard enemies, etc.
What is your favourite game made in the genre stated above? RPG - Final Fantasy VII, etc.
Why is that your favourite game?
Is there anything you would like to see in the game? Such as features, i.e. Fishing System, custom menu, etc.

Also, any advice given is greatly appreciated.
Thanks. :)
Well you cannot make a game that pleases everyone, it's best that you choose a maker that you are most familar with and choose themes you like so there is a higher chance of you at least making some solid progress. You are the creator, do what you want to do. There's nothing wrong with advice but don't ask people to tell you exactly what to do. Have fun!
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I'm going to get flamed for recommending any of the makers over any of the other makers, but oh well, you did ask for it.

If you want 2K3's battle system, and don't mind not being able to use scripts to do complex stuff, use 2K3. If you want any other battle system, or want to be able to use scripts to do complex stuff, use XP. Don't worry if you aren't a programmer and can't write your own scripts - there are plenty you can download. The only big difference between XP and VX is the map editor, and XP's map editor is infinitely better, so don't use VX.

As far as type of game, I would just make whichever type of game you have the most interesting gameplay ideas for. Since your goal isn't to make money, but rather to make a creative work, you will want to come up with something original and/or underutilized that you think is very interesting gameplay-wise. Think of an idea you wish more games did, or didn't do, then try to figure out why they haven't done what you want, and try to solve the problems that arise. Once you have something you want to do that's central to the gameplay, everything else should fall into place.
Thanks. I actually only postdd this so I can get a geneal idea though. And I´m not really bothered which RPG Maker I use. I´ll try anything system out, and it would help me learn a few new things. Again, thanks though.
You really should be asking these questions to yourself.
Yeah, but I´m clueless. I knew what game I wanted to make and it didn´t work out the way I wanted. Note why the game´s canceled.

make whatever you want. please stop being weird and trying to cater to internet people. thanks.
No wonder we get so many weird games on the market.

2003
What genre of game do you prefer? RPG, Action/Adventure, etc.
I like non battle-heavy RPGs and more puzzle-oriented games.
What kind of graphics? Old school, retro, RTP, etc.
Colorful secret-of-mana like.
What type of Battle System do you prefer? Action, sideview, frontview, etc.
Action or anything different.
What are the things do you like most in games? A good storyline, hard enemies, etc.
Character customization. Good story is also vital.
What is your favourite game made in the genre stated above? RPG - Final Fantasy VII, etc.
FFVI
Why is that your favourite game?
FFVI?
Is there anything you would like to see in the game? Such as features, i.e. Fishing System, custom menu, etc.
Something really innovative and surprising. It doesn't have to be completely original, but some feature that makes the game feel unique. For example, I just played Record of Agarest Wars, and you play through 5 generations, and the hero os each generation is the son of the previous, and his stats were based on the father's and the mother's. It was a cool touch.

I don't like to use any of them, but I'll play games made with any of them. I prefer RMXP/VX over the older ones due to scripting, but since the editor doesn't have an API, it makes it difficult to maintain anything beyond tweaking what is already in place.

What genre of game do you prefer? RPG, Action/Adventure, etc.
Well I prefer Action over RPGs, but I don't like Action games made with RPG Maker.

What kind of graphics? Old school, retro, RTP, etc.
I don't care about style as much as I do about consistency. Custom graphics, even if they're bad, usually catch my attention better than rips/RTP though. (Catmitt's stuff over a lot of other things for example)

What type of Battle System do you prefer? Action, sideview, frontview, etc.
Real time - but again, not with RPG Maker.

What are the things do you like most in games? A good storyline, hard enemies, etc.
In RPG's usually storyline, and that's even becoming more true with FPS games this past decade or so. I actually find most of the traditional RPG mechanics pretty boring these days.

What is your favourite game made in the genre stated above? RPG - Final Fantasy VII, etc.
Xenogears

Why is that your favourite game?
I like the Jungian psychology angle it takes with the ego/id/anema stuff. The love story is cheesy sometimes, but convincing which tends to be a high bar for a jRPG. It's just a well done story I think. The art is pretty traditional anime, but the mech/vehicle design I think is top notch. I can't ever remember the artist for that game, but I rank them up there with dudes like Yoji Shinkawa and Feng Zhu.

Is there anything you would like to see in the game? Such as features, i.e. Fishing System, custom menu, etc.
In Xenogears? The second disc not being an obvious rush job/unfinished would be nice. =P

I think he means "in A game", or in the game he's going to make.

What? In what way is that weird? I´m only asking for people´s opinions.

@Calunio - thanks for answering. When I asked what it was you liked about the game I meant about your favourite game, like yours is FFVI. For the last one, yeah. It´s for a game. Again, thanks. :)

@statistic- Thanks.

Make a game with RM95. That will show how hardcore you are!

I would make whatever interests you "imo". There isn't really any point to making a game based on what others like if you yourself are not really interested.
