HELP WITH CSS

I wasn't sure where to post this.

I know a little bit about HTML and I searched for tutorials on making a CSS but I'm wondering if there is anything already posted on this site somewhere that explains it? Would CSS be different for every page? Like on the game page the text is centered and the sides only show the background, does that mean you have to specify pixel ranges if you wanted to, say, put a different image behind the middle part?

All I really want to do put a background image on my game page for now. Can anybody provide a template or something where I can just replace the part about the background image. Is there anything specific to this site that needs to be identified in the coding?

The online tutorials are just walls of text explaining every little detail and I would just like a simple explanation of how to get just this one thing done, please :) Thanks

#body {
background: #0f0f0f url("[url]http://urlhost.com/lol.png[/url]");
}
gets you an image behind everything, if that's what you want. If not, lemme know and we'll work from there.
You don't need the url tags

RMN adds them on its own because dammit WIP.
So I was thinking of adding another visual to my game page. I want to change the background of the middle part, with all the comments and game description. It's probably not possible to have it a solid color with the surrounding edges being different. I assume I can assign a picture and it will tile or stretch the image, so I'll just settle with solid color. Little help? :)

Also, what else is even possible to change on the game page using CSS?
