Awesome!
I don't mind that they rehash so much. Experimentation has been a bad thing for Sonic games since... Sonic and Knuckles. Actually I loved Sonic Adventure 1, but it's more of a guilty pleasure. My PS3 just got the light of death so I can't download this now, but I'm looking forward to it. I was worried it was going to be as sloppy and badly designed as the Sonic Advanced games, but this looks like you can dash through levels at top speed every now and then without too many problems, so I'll probably really like it.

I just started playing this. The controls are kind of clunky, and it kind of bugs me how Sonic decelerates a little too fast upon letting go of the control pad. Even when he is running on a downhill slope he kind of slows down.
Aside from that, I actually enjoy this game. While they did rehash quite a lot, there are actual differences in the gameplay that makes it still exciting. The Genesis-styled percussion that goes with a lot of the music in this game is also a nice touch.
I'm a mixed bag about homing attack, though. Part of me strongly feels that it wasn't needed, yet the other part is forgiving since the gameplay isn't affected much by it, and surprisingly works well despite a few minor targeting issues.
I hope that in the next episode they polish the physics a little bit, but overall I think this is a nice comeback for Sonic.
