the only reason i ever had steam was to play the orange box. somewhere, i have a steam account that has the orange box on it. can't remember the login, so i can't play any of the orange box shit. i miss the days when single player games didn't require internet connections. and as long as i had my key, i could install them as many times as needed.
Fuck Steam.

I'm not a big Steam supporter. It is the best of a bad bunch (alright maybe the actual best is GOG or something). Though it is a bad bunch that is the norm nowadays but this argument seems a little dumb:
"and as long as I had my key, i could install them as many times as needed."
How is this different than what the orange box is now at the moment? As long as you have your account you can install the orange box as many times as needed. (and you don't even need your DVDs!)
Those damn CD keys are really not all that much better than what things like steam have. And sure you techincally didn't need a CD keys but the first thing anyone ever did after installing a game with the cd key was go online to look for the latest patch that made the game playable :D
My brother has steam games on his computer I want to play on mine: Fallout NV, for one. But I can't if he's always logged in (downloading, or playing other steam games like Black ops) and hell I ain't paying for another copy of this game when I'm only less than 5 feet from the damn box.
FUCK STEAM.
...I'm touching the box right now.

It's not steam's fault the PC gaming industry are a bunch of twats. As a matter of fact, they are helping to take PC gaming back from oppressive and shitty DRM that only really punish the real users.
I love STEAM

You mean honest users, right?

Being honest doesn't mean it's okay to put a consumer through inconvenient and sloppy protection methods.
I would consider the consumer not provided a physical copy of the product and/or requiring internet connection (and Steam's obnoxious client) for a single player game to be a related form of DRM, but that's just me. Only got Steam to play Recettear anyway.
Fuck Steam.

You buy a game, it's tied to your account. What's sloppy and inconvenient about it? Steam can also easily run in offline mode - so there goes the whole "I NEED TO BE ONLINE" shtick.

I meant DRM.
Steam eliminates the need to have the more intrusive DRM that I talked about. The companies that still insist on it are stupid and of course, out of Valve's control.
