HOW DO I USE DISHARMONY?

OKAY BETTER OP
So I downloaded this patch to RM 2000/3's music system called Disharmony from Cherry Tree's website
http://cherrytree.at/cms/lang/en/download/?did=5
I understand that it's pretty acclaimed as far as RM tools go, and that it was a definite 'must' for those who are pursuing serious projects. However, I really don't know how to use it to its full potential, what it CAN do (in laymans terms), or worse, how to use it without screwing something up. Music and how to utilize it isn't my forte at all, so would appreciate some help from anyone who's willing to give it.

It looks like it does everything except play your MIDIs with the nice Reverb and 3D sound system from DirectMusic which is one of the reasons you'd replace the sound library of 2k3 in the first place.
I'd have to say that if this is too much trouble to use you shouldn't stress over it. It doesn't sound like you're getting that much out of it and it might make your redistributable a bit more unstable in terms of it working on all end user machines.
It doesn't sound like I'm getting much out of it because I don't know how to use it and I don't know what it can do. I can't make an informed decision either way on something I don't know anything about.
Well, I guess you could reason that if it is so difficult to form an informed decision, then maybe it isn't worth the trouble.

I'm not even going to say it, since I like MOG and Chronology, but I'm pretty sure that you can figure it out.
"Not saying it" is as bad as saying it so you might as well say it or say nothing at all.
Well, it might be worth the trouble if there's something malfunctioning in Feld's game with the sound and/or music. Then it would be worth destabilizing the engine a little to fix the problem if the end result is something that still operates as a game.

"It does play MIDI as well."
So does the original. What it doesn't do is play them with nice reverbs.

does if the MIDI uses reverb
a MIDI file itself cannot have reverbs as its only a timeline of MIDI signals to the device that actually plays the sounds. MidiOut is not a device which appears to have a reverb function. Compare this to FMOD or DirectMusic which can.

No, the original does not, at least not in RM2k before version 1.50 and RM2k3 before version 1.05. The original harmony.dll had several bugs, leading to "weird sounding" music, all-piano music and similar issues.
Um..
So it works now and they (enterbrain) actually fixed it. So..?
(When I used 2k, I got the weird piano bug only once or twice ever, other than that it generally worked fine).

at least not in RM2k before version 1.50The update package to get RM2K v1.51 (aka RM2K Value) does not contain a harmony.dll file. Was the fix implemented in the editor and/or runtime engine rather? Or is the updated DLL file simply not provided in the v1.51 update package (ie: only for retail RM2K(3) copies)?
