I'm not sure about the ripple, but here's a script by deadlydan for the footsteps.

I did a ripple effect in rmvx



It slowed down the game to 10 FPS


(It could do with optimizations but if it barely hits 60 on my computer it'd probably kill others and I couldn't see a way to reduce the complexity by an order of magnitude)
