Summary:
The following is regarding RPG MAKER XP SPRITE LIMITS:

I was wondering if it's possible to make my sprites this size, chibi style instead of the usual small sprites, So my question is:
whats the biggest sprite possible ( in terms of dimensions ) on X.P, so far I think its 512, 512 correct me if I'm wrong or is their no limit like in the tile-set length?

And my second question is:
If I am to resize everything in proportion to my new default sprite size, ( tile-sets mostly ) will the game lag due to large resources or is it fine as long as I keep the mapping down a bit. Also whats the limit if it lags or not e.g can I make a proportional manga character into a large sprite with a super huge tileset or would that just make rpg maker crash down or something?

Thanks I appreciate your advice. ^_^

There would seem to be no limit beyond how big an image you want redrawn each frame - that is, how much horsepower your game takes. As long as you're efficient, lag shouldn't be an issue.

Wow, thats the best news I've heard all week.
O.K so I just have to keep the distances from the sprites equal, the drawings/ animation the same scale (proportionate) in each respective frame and I got me a sprite. Thanks.
However is it possible to somehow increase the frame limit just a bit, lets say to 8 frames per animation? With the use of a script maybe?

I think thats all, the rest will be left to my imagination. Thanks again

You can adjust how VX reads an image file; that is, you can tell it to divide the image into eight parts instead of four, and you can tell it cycle between eight frames instead of four.

I'm fuzzy on the specifics, but I'm pretty sure you'd start in the Sprite_Character class.
Thats good to know but I never plan on using VX ever again ( IMO it was incapable to fulfill my goals regarding creative mapping ) its too... "boxed in" when it comes to mapping and I'm already very used and comfortable with X.P ( although V.X is apparently easy to get ) I can just freely draw a map and make it a tile-set simple as that.

Thanks Chaos, think thats all I need to know. Oh yeah... are you sure theirs no such script for X.P? Otherwise Its fine, I can just make the animations 4 framed.... I never asked, why hasn't anyone done this before?
( making a game with chibi sized sprites like above with larger mapping ) or are most people just content with usual sprites and maps.

You... can the exact same thing in XP. Just for the record.
Ah, cool...
Um... sorry for being buggy about this but how exactly to I separate them into 8by8's?

I think in V.X it was !$ before any sprite name I'm kinda forgetting.

Also checked out wiki just to be 100% sure on the details and the legends true, theirs no set limit on X.P sprites or maps and with Mode 7, holly crap, you could actually imitate a full cell shaded style game like dragon quest on PS2.

Wow...

The battle systems already very similar!

The only set back is its going to take years and years to make a game even a bit similar but I'll give it a shot now I'm totally sure its possible.... plus I'm a lousy spriter so its my only way of making a real ( custom ) game.
