HOW TO KEEP THE AUTOSTART EVENT FROM LOOPING.

I tried playing around with some switches and variables, but so far, I've been unsuccessful in getting my beginning cutscene to not repeat.
Help please?

You need to either erase the event or change the page of the event.
You can accomplish the latter by setting a switch, say, 4, to the on position when the cutscene ends and then having "Switch 4 ON" as the condition for a second, empty page in the event. Then, when the cutscene gets to the end, it'll flip that switch on, causing it to read from the second (blank) page instead of the first.

Okay, I was working with RPGMaker2000, but after another auto event and switch, it's not looping anymore. Thanks for your help =).

I think you can just do Erase Event also.
The issue with Erase Event is that, bizarrely enough, the event gets restored the next time the map is loaded. That may not be the case with every RM program, but that's the way it works with XP.
That's exactly how Erase Event has always worked - it kills the event for the duration of the player's stay on that map.
If you want to kill it for good, use Self-Switches. Make a new page that is not autostart, and make it require the self-switch of your choice.

Hmmm... I'm also running into another error... I can't move the main character after the cutscene ends. Any particular reason why that is?
You set the new page to autostart. It is looping endlessly. Set the blank page to something that isn't autostart or parallel process.
