Edit:
*sorry for the rushed description I was at it, frustrated, doing this without knowing.
I'll clear it up a bit since mapping is a broad term when it comes to rpg maker.
I wanted answers on how to successfully create custom 2k3 chip-sets.

Custom Map questions for rpg maker 2000/2003
>How do I set each level on a map like a house for the lower map and then make a roof level e.t.c
>Whats the limit, e.g pixel size e.t.c
>Any templates I can get like a simple work over grid or some-kind of cool software ( free )

That shall be all my bretherin ^_^
( Note: topic seems fine here )

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Download iDraw3. It's a pixel graphics editor designed specifically for RM2000/RM2003.

Tiles are 16x16 each. Tilesets are all the same size and layout. The left part is for autotiles, middle part for lower layer, right part for upper layer. Open a few up and you'll see.

Google image search for rm2k3 tileset template and you should find plenty, probably? I don't have one though.

I THINK this is a poorly-worded request for a tutorial on Panorama Mapping, but I can't quite comprehend the OP's intentions

There are other templates here; http://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/1655/

(in the 'Development and Resource Guide. I personally recommend this.' section)

simply I wanted ansers to the questions I asked, is that so hard to understand? 0_o
Um the above where examples I never asked anyone to make a panorama anything...

Anyway thanks LockeZ I'll get iDraw3 and Kentona for providing a good template.

I am still not sure what you mean about the multiple levels question with the house example. I am naturally very much in favor of House examples, but that one is confusing. (Maybe if you could reword it in the form of a mysterious illness.)

This made me bust out laughing. I'm sitting at my desk at work. Thanks for getting me busted.

But really, that combined with the idea of "custom made maps" really supports that this could come off as an inquiry about panorama mapping from someone not familiar with the term panorama. Especially the idea that particular example games have them... since EVERY game has "custom made maps"... unless there are magical RTP -maps- I don't know about.

Or are you asking about custom made chipsets? I'm not even going to try
The games he mentioned don't use panorama mapping.

Just open those games' folders and see how they made their tilesets. Then take the template above and make your own. FROM SCRATCH.

I think by custom maps he meant custom graphics/chipsets.

Just a basic rundown of the above template:
- the brown area is for lower chip tiles. They need to fill a whole 16x16 square or the left over parts will be black. Mainly used for walls and stuff.
- bright pink part is for the tiles that overlap - usually trees, plants, decorations, items and whatnot. The first tile needs to be left blank, as does the one at the corner of the brown tiles.
- the light blue tile is water, the dark blue water directions and other animation. The pink/purple is for three four-way animations, like fire or lanterns.
- the green areas are for the autotiles - usually grass, road, black roofs and what not.

I recommend looking at a few other tilesets to see how they're set up and what goes where. Good luck!

Ascendance doesn't use panorama mapping? What?
Wasn't panorama mapping the thing you did because you only got a few chipsets in VX but you don't have to do in XP or 2003 because you can import as many as you need?
Yeah, but some people did panorama mapping for stylistic reasons.

i think you missed a few years of rpg making
2005-2007: The Panorama-rama Years
I was thinking Space Funeral and Yumme Niki. I don't know this other game.
If I remember correctly, I think Sunset Over Imdahl was panorama mapped.

It can look really effective, though I kinda hate the use of it in VX. It annoys me that most of the VX crowd are like "Oh, your map looks okay, but have you tried using panorama mapping. It'd be 10000000 times better. Derhurp" It's a pet peeve.
sounds like craze
