Help! My RM2K3 game got screwed up? Topic

Hi there,
I'm really not sure what's happened, but upon opening my RPG Maker 2003 program today, the game I was working on is ... seriously screwed up. Transparency on everything has stopped working, as if all the things I imported are no longer functioning. All the changes I've made to the database in the past month or so are gone, same with any map changes/animations/events/anything. Basically all of a month's progress on my game got wiped, and I have no idea why this is, but am understandably freaking out o___o;

I'm running Windows 7 if that's a factor, but I've never had this issue before so... Please help!

This sounds like the very rare bug where the entire database becomes corrupted. It's not an easy fix, so I hope you have a backup of your RPG_RT.ldb file. Otherwise, my condolences...

(Backup your projects weekly or even daily, nobody in the professional world keeps only one version of their stuff laying around)

This is a shot in the dark but since you are running Windows 7 you may have Previous Versions enabled on the drive where you store your project. Try right-clicking on the project folder, going to Properties and then look for the Previous Versions tab.

If there is anything in there you may be in luck! Try opening a previous version of the folder and see if the project is corrupt.

If there is nothing in there, you probably want to follow the directions for turning Previous Versions on or read up on backing up your files.

Thanks guys, turns out the solution was simpler than I thought... (coughallihadtodowasrestartcough) Haha..ha...

Thanks though! I'm definitely going to start backing my game up like crazy juuuust in case, though.
