Hey guys, I'm trying to get my faceset I am using to no longer have the black around the outside of it, it just looks strange and incorrect in my game. But, every time I try to remove the black from the background in Photoshop using the Magic Wand tool, and normally it works just fine and leaves me withe the standard gray and white checkerboard board background showing proof its now transparent.

However, out of the blue, its no longer deleting the background, its just making it white. When I place it in my game, the white is still there and its no longer transparent. I have a little over 100 facesets I need to do this to, does anyone know how I can correct this problem?

make sure you're doing this on a proper layer and not the index or background layers. convert these layers either by changing to RGB (index) or just double-clicking the layer (background)

They aren't layers; I actually just opened them and then used the tool, nothing else.
That's what geodude is saying. When you just open them and use the tool, by default they are background layers. You have to convert the default background layer to an editable layer first...
All pictures (jpeg, png etc) that you open in Photoshop are always by default background layers.

OK, I'll admit it, I'm not that smart... Anyone mind explaining to me at least what tool does this for me please?

It ain't a tool. It's just a function simply to convert a background layer into a normal layer:
This is a background layer. Select Layer from Background to convert it to a normal layer (by right-clicking the Background layer).
This is a normal layer, converted from a background layer.
Some pictures you open will turn out as below (known as an Index layer):
You have to convert it to RGB mode first so that it becomes a background layer:
