ATTACK, INTELLIGENCE, VARIANCE?

In RPG Maker 2003, I'm just wondering... what is the formula or whatever it is for the attack influence, intelligence influence, and variance? ... actually, what is variance? I have no idea what that does. I mean I know what attack and intelligence have to do with it, but I'm just wondering how much does it add on to the skill depending on the number you choose?
Say this skill heals 50 HP. if intelligence influence is 1 or 2, how much does it add on, or round up, or multiply, etc?
EDIT: Okay... main question... what does Variance do?

You could go into the editor and run that experiment yourself.
Spoiler: You will probably find that the intelligence influence by default is pretty broken, but you can fake it by using elemental multipliers.

Variance means that damage ranges from +-(Var)*5
So, for example, a Var of 4 would be a variance of +-20%.

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Short version:
Physical damage of a normal attack, or of a skill with 10 Attack Influence = Caster's Att/2 - Target's Def/4
Magical damage of a skill with 10 Intelligence Influence = Caster's Mag/4 - Target's Mag/8
If you have an influence less than 10, the result of that whole formula (both the attack part and the defense part) is decreased by a percentage.
Variance is the amount of randomness. 0 variance means you always get exactly the same damage. 1 variance means it can differ by 5% in either direction.

So, to get attacks and magics to increase with monster stats, I'd need Atk Inf 2, and Int Inf 4? Oh wait, no I misunderstood. Damn, that's very screwed up. I need Attack and Int to actually matter.
