MAC COMPATIBILITY

I was recommending a game to a friend, and he seems to be having trouble running this game on his computer. The game is Alter A.I.L.A Genesis made on RPG Maker 2003. He has a Mac, and this game does not work on the Mac nor the Windows emulator on the Mac. When he tries to run the game on his Mac OS, he gets the error message "the contents of the file RPG_RT.exe cannot be extracted" which is weird because you don't extract exe files, you run them. Have there been known issues with Mac compatibility with RPGmaker games? Are there any solutions that anybody can think of?
Thanks for listening.
As far as my undertstanding goes: The reason that RM doesn't work on Mac is because it's Windows software. Windows software NEVER works on a Mac because they're completely different things, it's like trying to play an Xbox game in a PS3. The only solution I could think of would be with a Windows emulator but it seems you've tried that and it hasn't worked. I don't know why it wouldn't work with Windows emulation though, as far as I know - it should.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

NewBlack is correct. Windows software does not run on Macs, nor vice-versa. This is the reason why people who actually want to be able to run programs don't get Macs.

You can use an emulator to run some software, but emulators aren't perfect. Even the Windows XP emulator built into Windows 7 has problems running many programs, so it's no surprise that the one for OSX is far worse. What error does he get in the emulator, though? It may be solvable.
Hey thanks for replying, guys.
The error he gets is that "Windows is not updated. Please click here for downloads." However, apparently following his onscreen instructions and downloading updates doesn't solve anything, and the message pops up again. Apparently he has had this problem with other programs other than RPGmaker. I know this is probably the wrong forum, but does anybody have any hints?
I'm just wondering. What emulator does he use? Is it Wine?
Might be Bootcamp as well. I heard that most Rm2k games work on Bootcamp.
Umm it's called something like "Parallels Desktop." He's calling it a "partition" rather than an emulator, if that means anything.
Yes, that means he has a seprate OS installed, thus the need for a partition. Think of it like this: What if you had windows AND Mac on the same computer? The awnser is to partition your hard drive for the second OS of course. Do you understand?
Ahh that makes much sense. Two desktops, one computer. So basically something is wrong with his WINDOWS OS; it has nothing to do with the fact that his actual computer was made by Apple. Most ironic, given where this thread originated.
He's been trying to run the games on Windows XP; is there XP compatibility issues with RPG Maker?
Actually, it probably IS apple's fault in this case. See, Macs are'nt supposed to run windows at all, to the point that during the 90s they had lockout gears to stop other Oses from being installed.

Other then that, no. Windows Xp should run it fine, but run it as an administrator just in case.
Oh. So if he managed to get some form of Windows working on his Mac, does this mean he managed to bypass these lockout gears? Or does the fact that Windows cannot function properly mean that the lockout gears are in effect?
Lockout gears is just a programing term for switches, that interfere with hardware. No, it just means the hardware wants to reject the OS, at least on most Macs. Tell him to use every method of compatibility on windows and if that does not work, get a copy of bootcamp and try it that way. If not... Get a new comp.
Thanks for the help guys. Much appreciated. People really aren't that bad, aren't they?
